He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.

Manasseh did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. He followed the practices of the nations. The Lord hated those practices. The Lord had driven out those nations to make room for the Israelites.

And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel.

He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, following the detestable practices of the pagan nations that the Lord had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.

He did what was evil in the LORD’s sight, imitating the detestable practices of the nations that the LORD had dispossessed before the Israelites.

「你們進入你們的上帝耶和華將要賜給你們的土地後，不可仿效當地民族的可憎行徑。

你們不可按照他們的方式敬拜你們的上帝耶和華。他們祭拜自己神明的種種行為令耶和華憎惡，他們甚至焚燒自己的兒女獻給他們的神明。

在各邱壇燒香，如同耶和華在他們面前趕走的外族人一樣。他們邪惡的行為激怒了耶和華。

拒絕遵守祂的律例和祂與他們祖先所立的約，無視祂的警告。他們隨從虛無的偶像，自己也變得虛無。他們違背耶和華的命令，去效法周圍的外族人。

我們豈能再違背你的誡命，與這些行為可憎的人通婚？若我們這樣行，你豈不發怒毀滅我們，使我們無一倖免嗎？

可是以色列人不肯聽從。瑪拿西誘使他們作惡，比耶和華在以色列人面前所毀滅的各族更嚴重。

這樣你們就知道我是耶和華。因為你們沒有遵行我的律例，沒有順從我的典章，卻效法你們四鄰外族的規矩。』」

「你們不可做這些事玷污自己。因為我要在你們面前趕走的各國正是因為這些行為而玷污了自己。他們居住的土地也都被玷污了，所以我因他們的罪惡而懲罰那片土地，我要使那片土地吐出他們。你們必須遵守我的律例和典章。不論你們還是寄居在你們中間的外族人，都不可做這些可憎之事。因為在你們之前居住在那裡的人做了這些可憎之事，玷污了那片土地。如果你們玷污了那片土地，它也會像吐出從前的居民一樣把你們吐出去。凡做這些可憎之事的，要將他從民中剷除。你們要遵守我的命令，不要效法那片土地上居民的惡俗，以致玷污自己。我是你們的上帝耶和華。」

「你們要遵行我的一切律例和典章，免得我要帶你們去的那片土地把你們吐出去。我要在你們面前趕走那片土地上的各族，你們不要隨從他們的習俗。他們做了以上那些事，所以我厭惡他們。

所有祭司長和民眾也都仿效外族人的一切可憎行徑，犯了大罪，玷污了耶和華在耶路撒冷使之聖潔的殿。

「你們將要趕走的那些民族聽信術士和巫師，但你們的上帝耶和華不准你們仿效他們。

反倒與他們混居，仿效他們的習俗，拜他們的神像，陷入網羅。他們把自己的兒女當祭物獻給鬼魔，他們把自己的兒女獻給迦南的神像作祭物，流他們兒女無辜的血，玷污了那地方。他們的行為玷污了自己，使自己淪為淫婦。耶和華因此向祂的子民發怒，厭惡他們，

因為猶大王希西迦的兒子瑪拿西在耶路撒冷的所作所為，我要使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。
