When the ambassadors of Babylon’s rulers were sent to him to inquire about the miraculous sign that happened in the land, God left him to test him and discover what was in his heart.

惟有一件事，就是巴比伦王差遣使者来见希西家，访问国中所现的奇事；这件事神离开他，要试验他，好知道他心内如何。

但当巴比伦诸侯差遣使者来见希西家，询问国中所发生的奇事时，上帝离开他，要考验他，好知道他心里的一切。

But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.

The rulers of Babylon sent messengers to him. They asked him about the miraculous sign that had taken place in the land. Then God left Hezekiah to test him. God wanted to know everything in Hezekiah’s heart.

And so in the matter of the envoys of the princes of Babylon, who had been sent to him to inquire about the sign that had been done in the land, God left him to himself, in order to test him and to know all that was in his heart.

However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart.

Even in the matter of the messengers of the rulers of Babylon, who were sent to him to inquire about the wonder that had happened in the land; God left him alone only to test him, so that He might know everything that was in his heart.

However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.

Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

When the ambassadors of Babylon’s rulers were sent to him to inquire about the miraculous sign that happened in the land, God left him to test him and discover what was in his heart.

Howbeit in[ the business of] the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was[ done] in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all[ that was] in his heart.

So when the envoys arrived from the Babylonian officials to visit him and inquire about the sign that occurred in the land, God left him alone to test him, in order to know his true motives.

However concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

Remember that the LORD your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

After these things God tested Abraham and said to him,“ Abraham!”“ Here I am,” he answered.

In those days Hezekiah became sick to the point of death, so he prayed to the LORD, who spoke to him and gave him a miraculous sign.

He fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your ancestors had not known, in order to humble and test you, so that in the end he might cause you to prosper.

No one undergoing a trial should say,“ I am being tempted by God,” since God is not tempted by evil, and he himself doesn’t tempt anyone.

But stretch out your hand and strike everything he owns, and he will surely curse you to your face.”“ Very well,” the LORD told Satan,“ everything he owns is in your power. However, do not lay a hand on Job himself.” So Satan left the LORD’s presence.

I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.

A crucible for silver, and a smelter for gold, and the LORD is the tester of hearts.

But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will be able to stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire and like launderer’s bleach.He will be like a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will present offerings to the LORD in righteousness.

At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah since he heard that he had been sick and had recovered.Hezekiah was pleased with the letters, and he showed the envoys his treasure house— the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil— and all his armory, and everything that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his palace and in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.Then the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah and asked him,“ What did these men say, and where did they come to you from?” Hezekiah replied,“ They came to me from a distant country, from Babylon.”Isaiah asked,“ What have they seen in your palace?” Hezekiah answered,“ They have seen everything in my palace. There isn’t anything in my treasuries that I didn’t show them.”Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah,“ Hear the word of the LORD of Armies:‘ Look, the days are coming when everything in your palace and all that your predecessors have stored up until today will be carried off to Babylon; nothing will be left,’ says the LORD.‘ Some of your descendants— who come from you, whom you father— will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah,“ The word of the LORD that you have spoken is good,” for he thought: There will be peace and security during my lifetime.

I will put this third through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The LORD is our God.’”

Then she cried,“ Samson, the Philistines are here!” When he awoke from his sleep, he said,“ I will escape as I did before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the LORD had left him.

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah,“ What is the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the LORD’s temple on the third day?”Isaiah said,“ This is the sign to you from the LORD that he will do what he has promised: Should the shadow go ahead ten steps or go back ten steps?”Then Hezekiah answered,“ It’s easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. No, let the shadow go back ten steps.”So the prophet Isaiah called out to the LORD, and he brought the shadow back the ten steps it had descended on the stairway of Ahaz.At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah since he heard that he had been sick.Hezekiah listened to the letters and showed the envoys his whole treasure house— the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil— and his armory, and everything that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his palace and in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.

Do not hide your face from me; do not turn your servant away in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation.

LORD, you have searched me and known me.You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away.

do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul.

so that the proven character of your faith— more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire— may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

This is the sign to you from the LORD that he will do what he has promised:I am going to make the sun’s shadow that goes down on the stairway of Ahaz go back by ten steps.’” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had descended.

Do not banish me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and sustain me by giving me a willing spirit.

Sustain me as you promised, and I will live; do not let me be ashamed of my hope.Sustain me so that I can be safe and always be concerned about your statutes.

Then the LORD said to Satan,“ Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil. He still retains his integrity, even though you incited me against him, to destroy him for no good reason.”“ Skin for skin!” Satan answered the LORD.“ A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life.But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.”“ Very well,” the LORD told Satan,“ he is in your power; only spare his life.”

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns.See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.
