亚撒王也废掉他的祖母玛迦太后的位，因为她曾给亚舍拉做了可憎的像；亚撒把她那可憎的像砍了下来，捣得粉碎，烧在汲沦溪旁。

如果你们对我说：我们倚靠的是耶和华我们的神，希西家不是曾把他的邱坛和祭坛废去，又对犹大人和耶路撒冷人说：你们要在耶路撒冷这祭坛前敬拜吗？

众人在他面前拆毁了巴力的祭坛，他亲自打碎了坛上高高的香坛，又把亚舍拉、雕像和铸像砍碎成灰，撒在向这些偶像献过祭的人的坟上。

他拆毁了祭坛，把亚舍拉和雕刻的偶像打碎，破碎了以色列全地所有的香坛，就回耶路撒冷去了。

他又把亚哈斯的楼房顶上，犹大列王所做的祭坛，和玛拿西在耶和华殿的两院中所做的祭坛拆毁，就地打碎，把它们的灰尘倒进汲沦溪去。在耶路撒冷东面、橄榄山南面的邱坛，就是以色列王所罗门为西顿人可憎的神亚斯他录、摩押人可憎的神基抹，和亚扪人可憎的神米勒公所筑的邱坛，王都污秽了。

耶稣说完了这些话，就和门徒出去，过了汲沦溪。在那里有一个园子，耶稣和门徒进去了。

偶像却必全然消逝。耶和华起来，使大地震动的时候，人必进入石洞，进入土穴，躲避耶和华的惊吓和他威严的荣光。到那日，人必把那些自己所做、供自己敬拜的金偶像和银偶像，抛给田鼠和蝙蝠。
