亞哈斯將耶和華上帝殿裡的器皿收集起來打碎，封鎖殿門，並在耶路撒冷的每個角落為自己設立祭壇。

「你要吩咐以色列人給你拿來純橄欖油，作點燈之用，使燈常常亮著。在會幕遮掩約櫃的幔子外，亞倫要負責照看燈，使燈從晚上到早晨一直亮著。這是你們世世代代都要遵守的律例。亞倫要常常照看這些放在純金燈臺上的燈。「你要用細麵粉烤十二個餅，每個餅用兩公斤細麵粉。你要把餅擺成兩行放在耶和華面前的純金桌子上，每行六個，每行餅上放一些純乳香，象徵這些餅是獻給耶和華的火祭。每逢安息日，要定期把餅擺在耶和華面前。這是以色列人要永遠遵守的約。

萬軍之耶和華說：「我真希望你們當中有人把殿門關上，免得你們在我祭壇上枉然點火。因為我不喜悅你們，也不接納你們的祭物。」

亞哈斯王拆掉盆座的鑲板，搬走盆，將銅海從銅牛背上搬下來，放在鋪石的地上。為了亞述王，他挪走耶和華殿裡為安息日而蓋的走廊，封閉了王從外面進耶和華殿的入口。

希西迦元年一月，他開啟耶和華殿的門，重新修理。
