Then these Levites set to work: from the Kohathites, Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah; from the Merarites, Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel; from the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah;

Here are the Levites who went to work. Mahath and Joel were from the family line of Kohath. Mahath was the son of Amasai. Joel was the son of Azariah. Kish and Azariah were from the family line of Merari. Kish was the son of Abdi. Azariah was the son of Jehallelel. Joah and Eden were from the family line of Gershon. Joah was the son of Zimmah. Eden was the son of Joah.

Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

Then these Levites got right to work: From the clan of Kohath: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah. From the clan of Merari: Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel. From the clan of Gershon: Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah.

Then the Levites stood up: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah from the Kohathites; Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel from the Merarites; Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah from the Gershonites;

耶歇、亞撒細雅、拿哈、亞撒黑、耶利末、約撒拔、以列、伊斯瑪基雅、瑪哈、比拿雅都是督理，在歌楠雅和他兄弟示每的手下，是希西家王和管理神殿的亞撒利雅所派的。

革順的子孫有拉但和示每。拉但的長子是耶歇，還有細坦和約珥，共三人。示每的兒子是示羅密、哈薛、哈蘭三人。這是拉但族的族長。示每的兒子是雅哈、細拿、耶烏施、比利亞共四人。雅哈是長子，細撒是次子。但耶烏施和比利亞的子孫不多，所以算為一族。哥轄的兒子是暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛共四人。暗蘭的兒子是亞倫、摩西。亞倫和他的子孫分出來，好分別至聖的物，在耶和華面前燒香、事奉他，奉他的名祝福，直到永遠。至於神人摩西，他的子孫名字記在利未支派的冊上。摩西的兒子是革舜和以利以謝。革舜的長子是細布業；以利以謝的兒子是利哈比雅。以利以謝沒有別的兒子，但利哈比雅的子孫甚多。以斯哈的長子是示羅密。希伯倫的長子是耶利雅，次子是亞瑪利亞，三子是雅哈悉，四子是耶加面。烏薛的長子是米迦，次子是耶西雅。米拉利的兒子是抹利、母示。抹利的兒子是以利亞撒、基士。以利亞撒死了，沒有兒子，只有女兒，他們本族基士的兒子娶了她們為妻。母示的兒子是末力、以得、耶利摩共三人。

利未眾子的名字是革順、哥轄、米拉利。

哥轄子孫中有族長烏列和他的弟兄一百二十人。米拉利子孫中有族長亞帥雅和他的弟兄二百二十人。革順子孫中有族長約珥和他的弟兄一百三十人。

「你從利未人中，將哥轄子孫的總數，照他們的家室、宗族，從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裏辦事的，全都計算。哥轄子孫在會幕搬運至聖之物，所辦的事乃是這樣：起營的時候，亞倫和他兒子要進去摘下遮掩櫃的幔子，用以蒙蓋法櫃，又用海狗皮蓋在上頭，再蒙上純藍色的毯子，把槓穿上。又用藍色毯子鋪在陳設餅的桌子上，將盤子、調羹、奠酒的爵，和杯擺在上頭。桌子上也必有常設的餅。在其上又要蒙朱紅色的毯子，再蒙上海狗皮，把槓穿上。要拿藍色毯子，把燈臺和燈臺上所用的燈盞、剪子、蠟花盤，並一切盛油的器皿，全都遮蓋。又要把燈臺和燈臺的一切器具包在海狗皮裏，放在擡架上。在金壇上要鋪藍色毯子，蒙上海狗皮，把槓穿上。又要把聖所用的一切器具包在藍色毯子裏，用海狗皮蒙上，放在擡架上。要收去壇上的灰，把紫色毯子鋪在壇上；又要把所用的一切器具，就是火鼎、肉鍤子、鏟子、盤子，一切屬壇的器具都擺在壇上，又蒙上海狗皮，把槓穿上。將要起營的時候，亞倫和他兒子把聖所和聖所的一切器具遮蓋完了，哥轄的子孫就要來擡，只是不可摸聖物，免得他們死亡。會幕裏這些物件是哥轄子孫所當擡的。「祭司亞倫的兒子以利亞撒所要看守的是點燈的油與香料，並當獻的素祭和膏油，也要看守全帳幕與其中所有的，並聖所和聖所的器具。」耶和華曉諭摩西、亞倫說：「你們不可將哥轄人的支派從利未人中剪除。他們挨近至聖物的時候，亞倫和他兒子要進去派他們各人所當辦的，所當擡的。這樣待他們，好使他們活着，不致死亡。只是他們連片時不可進去觀看聖所，免得他們死亡。」

利未的兒子是革順、哥轄、米拉利。革順的兒子名叫立尼、示每。哥轄的兒子是暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛。米拉利的兒子是抹利、母示。這是按着利未人宗族分的各家。革順的兒子是立尼；立尼的兒子是雅哈；雅哈的兒子是薪瑪；薪瑪的兒子是約亞；約亞的兒子是易多；易多的兒子是謝拉；謝拉的兒子是耶特賴。
