祭大馬色之上帝、彼以為亞蘭列王之上帝助亞蘭王以陷我、我亦獻祭、望其助我、是自取罪戾、害及以色列族眾。

大瑪色人敗之、亞哈斯遂祭其神曰、亞蘭列王所敬之神助彼、我不如祭其神、或亦助我、亞哈斯祭其神、使己與以色列人陷禍愈深、

He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought,“ Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.” But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.

Ahaz offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus. They had won the battle over him. Ahaz thought,“ The gods of the kings of Aram have helped them. So I’ll sacrifice to those gods. Then they’ll help me.” But those gods only caused his ruin. In fact, those gods caused the ruin of the whole nation of Israel.

For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus that had defeated him and said,“ Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.

He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus who had defeated him, for he said,“ Since these gods helped the kings of Aram, they will help me, too, if I sacrifice to them.” But instead, they led to his ruin and the ruin of all Judah.

亚玛谢击杀以东人回来以后，他把西珥人的神像带回，立为自己的神明，在它们面前叩拜烧香。

那些知道自己妻子向别神烧香的男人，与站在那里的一大群妇女，就是住埃及地巴特罗所有的百姓，回答耶利米说：“论到你奉耶和华的名向我们所说的话，我们必不听从。我们定要照我们口中所说的一切话去做，向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，按着我们与我们祖先、君王、官长在犹大城镇和耶路撒冷街市上素常所做的一样；因为那时我们得以吃饱、享福乐，并未遇见灾祸。自从我们停止向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，我们倒缺乏这一切，又因刀剑饥荒灭绝。”

那时，他如风猛然扫过，他背叛，显为有罪；他以自己的力量为神明。

以色列啊，你自取灭亡了，因为我才是你的帮助。

偶像好像瓜田里的稻草人，不能说话，不能行走，必须有人抬着。不要怕它们，因它们不能降祸，也无力降福。”

王从大马士革回来，看见坛，走近坛前，在坛上献祭。他烧燔祭和素祭，献浇酒祭，将平安祭牲的血洒在坛上。

耶利米对这样回答他的男人和妇女说：“你们与你们祖先、君王、官长，以及这地的百姓，在犹大城镇和耶路撒冷街市上所烧的香，耶和华岂不记得，放在他心上吗？耶和华因你们所行的恶、所做可憎的事，不能再容忍，所以使你们的地荒凉，受惊骇诅咒，无人居住，正如今日一样。你们烧香，得罪耶和华，不听耶和华的话，不遵行他的律法、条例、法度，所以你们遭遇这灾祸，正如今日一样。”耶利米又对众百姓和妇女说：“所有在埃及地的犹大人哪，当听耶和华的话。万军之耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说：你们和你们的妻子口中说过、手里做到，说：‘我们定要向天后还愿，向它烧香，献浇酒祭。’现在你们尽管坚定所许的愿，去还愿吧！所有住埃及地的犹大人哪，当听耶和华的话。耶和华说：看哪，我指着我至大的名起誓，在埃及全地，我的名必不再被犹大任何人的口呼喊：‘我指着主—永生的耶和华起誓。’看哪，我看守他们，为要降祸不降福；在埃及地的犹大人必因刀剑、饥荒而灭亡，直到灭绝。从埃及地能脱离刀剑、归回犹大地的人数很少。那进入埃及地、在那里寄居的，就是幸存的犹大人，必知道是谁的话站得住，是我的话呢，还是他们的话。

但悖逆的和犯罪的必一同败亡，离弃耶和华的必致消灭。
