他們得了上帝的幫助去敵擋敵人，夏甲人和跟隨夏甲人的就都交在他們手中，因為他們在戰陣上向上帝哀呼；因他們倚靠上帝，上帝就應允了他們所懇求的。

我得了從上帝來的庇佑，所以站立得穩、直到這一天，不但對卑小的人、也對尊大的人、作見證。所說的不外乎神言人們和摩西所講必須發生的事，

因為仗着你、我能攻破敵軍，仗着我的上帝、我能跳過牆垣。

他教導我的手怎樣爭戰，使我的膀臂能開銅弓。你將你的拯救給我做盾牌；你的右手支持了我；你的「靈應」使我昌大。

亞撒向永恆主他的上帝呼求說：『永恆主啊，在強盛者與軟弱無力者之間，除了你以外是沒有幫助者的。永恆主我們的上帝啊，求你幫助我們；因為我們依靠着你，我們奉你的名去對付這蜂擁軍兵。永恆主啊，你才是我們的上帝；不要讓人有把握勝過你哦。』

那時上帝的靈覆被在那三十個勇士的首領亞瑪撒身上，亞瑪撒就說：『大衛啊，我們是歸你的；耶西的兒子啊，我們是擁護你的；願你平安興隆；願幫助你的也都平安興隆；因為你的上帝幫助着你。』大衛就收留他們，立他們在遊擊隊首領之列。

有非利士人給約沙法送禮物和貢銀來；以東摩押的游牧亞拉伯人也給他送來了公綿羊七千七百隻、公山羊七千七百隻。
