以後，耶和華激動非利士人和靠近古實的阿拉伯人來攻擊約蘭。

非利士全地啊，不要因擊打你的杖折斷就喜樂。因為從蛇的根必生出毒蛇；牠所生的是火焰的飛龍。

我藉着你衝入敵軍，藉着我的神跳過牆垣。

他教導我的手能以爭戰，甚至我的膀臂能開銅弓。你把你的救恩給我作盾牌；你的右手扶持我；你的溫和使我為大。

亞撒呼求耶和華－他的神說：「耶和華啊，惟有你能幫助軟弱的，勝過強盛的。耶和華－我們的神啊，求你幫助我們；因為我們仰賴你，奉你的名來攻擊這大軍。耶和華啊，你是我們的神，不要容人勝過你。」

那時神的靈感動那三十個勇士的首領亞瑪撒，他就說：大衛啊，我們是歸於你的！耶西的兒子啊，我們是幫助你的！願你平平安安，願幫助你的也都平安！因為你的神幫助你。大衛就收留他們，立他們作軍長。

有些非利士人與約沙法送禮物，納貢銀。阿拉伯人也送他公綿羊七千七百隻，公山羊七千七百隻。
