後來永恆主激動了非利士人和貼着古實邊緣的亞拉伯人的心來攻打約蘭。

在耶路撒冷有人陰謀反叛了亞瑪謝；亞瑪謝逃到拉吉；叛黨打發人跟蹤到拉吉，就在那裏將他弒死。人用馬馱他去埋葬在耶路撒冷，在大衛城、和他列祖同在一處。

其實你已經看見；因為毒害與愁苦、你都觀看，為要以手行鑒察；窮而無告者將自己放交與你；只有你是幫助孤兒的。

這些事以後、永恆主擊打了約蘭，使他的腸子患了不能醫治的病。這樣日過一日，過了二年，他的腸子老是因病而墜出來，他就因病重而死。他的人民沒有為他舉行甚麼焚燒禮，像從前為他列祖所焚燒的一樣。約蘭登極的時候三十二歲；在耶路撒冷作王有八年；他去世沒有人思慕。人將他埋葬在大衛城裏，只是不在諸王的墳墓裏。
