Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.

耶和華亦遣其僕諸先知至爾、夙興遣之、惟爾不從、不側耳以聽、彼曰、當各轉離邪途惡行、居於耶和華錫爾及爾祖之地、自昔迄於永久、

我民歟、尚其注意、我國歟、尚其傾耳、蓋有法律將自我出、我必立我公義、以為兆民之光、

爾中誰傾耳聽此、嗣後聞而從之、

蓋斯民心頑、耳聵、自閉其目、恐目視、耳聽、心悟、轉移而我醫之、惟爾目福矣、以其見也、爾耳福矣、以其聞也、

不從我僕諸先知之言、即我夙興而遣者、爾不聽之、

自爾列祖出埃及時、以迄於今、我日遣我僕諸先知詣爾、乃夙興而遣之、惟爾不從、不傾耳以聽、乃強厥項、作惡甚於列祖、

我遣我僕諸先知詣爾、夙興而遣之曰、噫、此可憎之事、我所疾者、爾勿行之、惟彼不從、不側耳以聽、不改其惡仍焚香於他神、

彼乃我上帝、我儕為其所牧之民、手下之羊、願爾今聽其言兮、勿剛愎乃心、如在米利巴、在曠野瑪撒之日兮、

曰、不聽摩西與先知、即有自死而起者、彼亦不受勸也、

耶和華藉諸先知先見、戒以色列與猶大人曰、當轉離爾之惡途、守我誡命典章、循我所命爾列祖、及藉我僕眾先知授爾之法、惟彼弗聽、強項不馴、如其不信厥上帝耶和華之列祖、違棄上帝之典章、及與其列祖所立之約、並戒之之言、從虛無而變為虛妄、效四周異邦、即耶和華所命勿效之者、

惟彼弗順、叛逆乎爾、背爾法律、爾之先知勸令歸爾、彼乃殺之、大干震怒、

有耳者宜聽焉、○

側耳就我、諦聽我言、則可得生、我與爾立永約、即所許大衛之實惠、

禍哉爾乎、以爾建先知之墓、乃爾祖所殺者也、如是、則爾祖所為、爾證之、且與之、蓋彼殺先知、而爾建其墓也、是故上帝之哲言有云、我將遣先知使徒就彼、其中有見殺者、有見迫者、致創世以來所流先知之血、皆於此代而討焉、即自亞伯之血、至亡於殿壇間撒迦利亞之血也、我語汝、必於此代而討焉、

宜傾聽我聲、靜聆我言、

其列祖之上帝耶和華、矜恤其民、與其居所、夙興遣使以戒之、惟彼訕笑上帝之使、藐視其言、譏其先知、致耶和華之怒及於其民、無可救治、

乃設喻語眾曰、有樹葡萄園者、租與農夫、而往異地久之、屆期、遣一僕就農夫、令納園中之果、農夫扑之、使之徒返、再遣他僕、亦扑之、且辱之、使之徒返、三遣其僕、農夫又傷而逐之、園主曰、我將如之何、必遣我愛子、庶或敬之矣、農夫見之、相議曰、此其嗣子、我且殺之、業歸我矣、遂逐於園外殺焉、園主將何以處之乎、
