They abandoned the temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols. Because of their guilt, God’s anger came on Judah and Jerusalem.

They turned their backs on the temple of the Lord, the God of their people. They worshiped poles made to honor the female god named Asherah. They also worshiped statues of other gods. Because Judah and Jerusalem were guilty of sin, God became angry with them.

And they abandoned the house of the Lord, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs.

They decided to abandon the Temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they worshiped Asherah poles and idols instead! Because of this sin, divine anger fell on Judah and Jerusalem.

哈拿尼先見的兒子耶戶出來迎接約沙法王，對他說：「你怎能幫助惡人，愛那憎恨耶和華的人呢？你這樣做已經惹怒耶和華了。

之後，約阿施有意整修耶和華的殿，

從前謝拉的曾孫亞干私自留下那些耶和華吩咐要毀滅的東西，以致耶和華的烈怒臨到以色列全體會眾，因他的罪而死的不只他一個人！」

說：「你們不可把這些俘虜帶進來，我們的罪已經夠重了，耶和華的烈怒已經臨到以色列人，不要再得罪耶和華，加重我們的罪惡了。」

因此，耶和華的烈怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷，使他們的遭遇令人恐懼、震驚、嗤笑，正如你們親眼所見的。

希西迦卻沒有為他所蒙的恩典而感謝上帝，因為他心中驕傲。因此，上帝的烈怒臨到他、猶大和耶路撒冷。

他們在各高崗上、樹蔭下為自己建造邱壇，豎立神柱和亞舍拉神像，

猶大的首領如同擅移地界的人，侵吞以色列的領土，我要將烈怒如洪水般傾瀉在他們身上。以法蓮因甘願追隨偶像而受欺壓，被審判壓碎。

反而比前人行惡更甚，為自己設立其他神明，鑄造神像，惹我發怒，把我拋在腦後。

相反，要拆掉他們的祭壇，打碎他們的神柱，砍掉他們的亞舍拉神像。

我要像獅子一樣對待以法蓮，如猛獅一樣對待猶大家，將他們撕碎、拖走，無人能營救他們。

不要被虛空的道理欺騙，因為上帝的烈怒必臨到上述那些悖逆的人。

所有祭司長和民眾也都仿效外族人的一切可憎行徑，犯了大罪，玷污了耶和華在耶路撒冷使之聖潔的殿。他們祖先的上帝耶和華因為憐愛祂的子民和祂的居所，就不斷派使者來勸告他們。他們卻嘲弄耶和華上帝的使者，藐視祂的話，嘲笑祂的先知，以致祂的憤怒臨到祂的子民身上，無可挽救。

他重建他父親希西迦拆毀的邱壇，為巴力築造祭壇，製造亞舍拉神像，並祭拜和供奉天上的萬象。耶和華曾指著祂的殿說：「我的名必永遠在耶路撒冷。」他卻在耶和華的殿內建造異教的祭壇。他在耶和華殿的兩個院子裡建造祭拜天上萬象的祭壇。他還在欣嫩子谷把自己的兒子燒死，獻作祭物。他行巫術、占卜、觀兆，求問靈媒和巫師。他做了許多耶和華視為惡的事，惹耶和華發怒。他雕刻偶像，放在上帝的殿中。關於這殿，上帝曾經對大衛和他兒子所羅門說：「我從以色列眾支派中選擇了這殿和耶路撒冷，我的名要在這裡永遠受尊崇。

而是重蹈以色列諸王的覆轍，與亞哈家一樣，引誘猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民與假神苟合，還殺了比你好的兄弟。

耶和華又向以色列人發怒，祂促使大衛來對付他們，讓大衛統計以色列和猶大的人口。

所羅門年老的時候，他的嬪妃誘惑他的心去追隨別的神明。他沒有像他父親大衛那樣忠心順服他的上帝耶和華。所羅門拜西頓人的女神亞斯她錄和亞捫人的可憎神明米勒公。

以色列人選擇新的神明，便戰禍臨門，四萬以色列人中找不到一矛一盾。

「我必伸手攻擊猶大，以及所有住在耶路撒冷的人，剷除巴力的餘跡及拜偶像之祭司的名號。我必剷除那些在屋頂祭拜天上萬象的人，剷除敬拜我、憑我起誓又憑米勒公起誓的人，剷除離棄我、不尋求我、不求問我的人。」
