that the Lord may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying,‘ If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’

And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and people, that they should be the Lord’s people, and also between the king and the people.

then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father, saying,‘ You shall not lack a man to rule Israel.’

And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.’”

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.

His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me.

They were enrolled by genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer established them in their office of trust.So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, that is, the house of the tent, as guards.The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south.And their kinsmen who were in their villages were obligated to come in every seven days, in turn, to be with these,for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over the chambers and the treasures of the house of God.And they lodged around the house of God, for on them lay the duty of watching, and they had charge of opening it every morning.
