於是國中的眾百姓都到巴力廟去，拆毀了廟，徹底打碎祭壇和偶像，又在壇前把巴力的祭司瑪坦殺了。耶何耶大祭司派官員看守耶和華的殿，又率領百夫長，迦利人和護衛兵，以及國中的眾百姓，請王從耶和華的殿下來，由護衛兵的門進入王宮，他就坐上王位。

偶像必全然廢棄。

拆毀祭壇，把亞舍拉和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍斷以色列全地所有的香壇。於是他回耶路撒冷去了。

眾人在他面前拆毀諸巴力的壇，砍斷壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉和雕刻的像，以及鑄造的像打碎成灰，撒在向偶像獻祭之人的墳上，

那先知或那做夢的人要被處死，因為他出言悖逆那領你們出埃及地、救贖你脫離為奴之家的耶和華－你們的神，要引誘你離開耶和華－你神吩咐你要行的道。這樣，你就把惡從你中間除掉。「你的同胞兄弟，或是你的兒女，或是你懷中的妻，或是如同自己性命的朋友，若暗中引誘你，說：『我們去事奉別神吧。』那是你和你列祖所不認識的，你四圍列國的神明，無論是離你近或離你遠，從地這邊到地那邊，你都不可附和他，也不要聽從他。你的眼不可顧惜他，不可憐憫他，也不可袒護他。你務必殺他；你先下手，然後眾百姓才下手，把他處死。

耶戶獻完了燔祭，就對護衛兵和眾軍官說：「進去殺他們，不要讓一人逃脫！」護衛兵和軍官用刀殺了他們，將屍體拋出去，然後進入巴力廟的堡壘，將巴力廟中的柱像都拿出來焚燒。他們毀壞巴力的柱像，拆毀了巴力廟當廁所，直到今日。這樣，耶戶在以色列中消滅了巴力。

萬軍之耶和華說：「在那日，我要從地上除滅偶像的名，使它不再被記得；我也必使這地不再有先知，不再有污穢的靈。若還有人說預言，生他的父母必對他說：『你不得存活，因為你假借耶和華的名說謊話。』生他的父母在他說預言時，要將他刺死。

他廢去丘壇，毀壞柱像，砍下亞舍拉，打碎摩西所造的銅蛇，因為到那時以色列人仍向銅蛇燒香。人叫銅蛇為尼忽士但。

要拆毀他們的祭壇，打碎他們的柱像，用火焚燒他們的亞舍拉，砍斷他們神明的雕刻偶像，並要從那地方除去他們的名。
