Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

你寿数满足、与你列祖同睡的时候，我必使你的后裔接续你的位；我也必坚定他的国。他必为我的名建造殿宇；我必坚定他的国位，直到永远。我要作他的父，他要作我的子；他若犯了罪，我必用人的杖责打他，用人的鞭责罚他。但我的慈爱仍不离开他，像离开在你面前所废弃的扫罗一样。你的家和你的国必在我面前永远坚立。你的国位也必坚定，直到永远。’”拿单就按这一切话，照这默示，告诉大卫。

只是我不将全国夺回，要因我仆人大卫和我所选择的耶路撒冷，还留一支派给你的儿子。”

在他仆人大卫家中，为我们兴起了拯救的角，

要照亮坐在黑暗中死荫里的人，把我们的脚引到平安的路上。”

说：我们可以上去攻击犹大，扰乱它，攻破它，在其中立他比勒的儿子为王。’所以主耶和华如此说：这所谋的必立不住，也不得成就。

我要为他存留我的慈爱，直到永远；我与他立的约必要坚定。我也要使他的后裔存到永远，使他的宝座如天之久。“倘若他的子孙离弃我的律法，不照我的典章行，背弃我的律例，不遵守我的诫命，我就要用杖责罚他们的过犯，用鞭责罚他们的罪孽。只是我必不将我的慈爱全然收回，也必不叫我的信实废弃。我必不背弃我的约，也不改变我口中所出的。

我要叫大卫的角在那里发生；我为我的受膏者预备明灯。我要使他的仇敌披上羞耻；但他的冠冕要在头上发光。”

“耶和华如此说：你们若能废弃我所立白日黑夜的约，使白日黑夜不按时轮转，就能废弃我与我仆人大卫所立的约，使他没有儿子在他的宝座上为王，并能废弃我与侍奉我的祭司、利未人所立的约。天上的万象不能数算，海边的尘沙也不能斗量；我必照样使我仆人大卫的后裔和侍奉我的利未人多起来。”耶和华的话临到耶利米说：“你没有揣摩这百姓的话吗？他们说：‘耶和华所拣选的二族，他已经弃绝了。’他们这样藐视我的百姓，以为不再成国。耶和华如此说：‘若是我立白日黑夜的约不能存住，若是我未曾安排天地的定例，我就弃绝雅各的后裔和我仆人大卫的后裔，不使大卫的后裔治理亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的后裔；因为我必使他们被掳的人归回，也必怜悯他们。’”

你厌恶了与仆人所立的约，将他的冠冕践踏于地。

我家在神面前并非如此；神却与我立永远的约。这约凡事坚稳，关乎我的一切救恩和我一切所想望的，他岂不为我成就吗？

但洗鲁雅的儿子亚比筛帮助大卫，攻打非利士人，将他杀死。当日，跟随大卫的人向大卫起誓说：“以后你不可再与我们一同出战，恐怕熄灭以色列的灯。”

耶和华却因他仆人大卫的缘故，仍不肯灭绝犹大，照他所应许大卫的话，永远赐灯光与他的子孙。

耶和华向大卫、凭诚实起了誓，必不反复，说：“我要使你所生的坐在你的宝座上。

但王的女儿约示巴将亚哈谢的儿子约阿施从那被杀的王子中偷出来，把他和他的乳母都藏在卧房里。约示巴是约兰王的女儿，亚哈谢的妹子，祭司耶何耶大的妻。她收藏约阿施，躲避亚他利雅，免得被杀。
