Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

至于所罗门的儿子，我要给他一个支派，好使我的仆人大卫在我所拣选立我名的城耶路撒冷，在我面前常常有灯光。

到了你的寿数满足，你与你的列祖一起长眠的时候，我必兴起你亲生的后裔接替你，并且我要坚固他的国。他必为我的名建造一座殿宇，我要永远坚固他的国位。我要作他的父亲，他要作我的儿子，他若是犯了罪，我要用人的刑杖、用世人的鞭子纠正他。但我的慈爱必不离开他，像离开在你面前的扫罗一样。你的家和你的王国，也必在我(按照《马索拉文本》，「我」作「你」；现参照其他抄本及古译本翻译)的面前永远坚定，你的王位也必永远坚立。’”拿单按着这一切话，又照着全部的默示，都对大卫说了。

只是我不把整个国家夺去，为了我的仆人大卫的缘故，又为了我所拣选的耶路撒冷的缘故，我要给你的儿子留下一个支派。”

在他仆人大卫家中，为我们兴起救恩的角，

光照那坐在黑暗中死荫里的人，引导我们的脚，走上平安的路。”

“我们可以上去攻打犹大，扰乱她，把她攻占过来，归我们所有，又在其中立他比勒的儿子作王。”因此，主耶和华这样说：“这计谋必立不住，也不能成就，

我要永远保持我对他的慈爱，我和他所立的约必坚立。我要使他的后裔存到永远，使他的王位好像天一样长久。如果他的子孙离弃我的律法，不照着我的典章而行；如果他们违背我的律例，不遵守我的诫命，我就用杖责罚他们的过犯，用鞭责罚他们的罪孽。但我必不把我的慈爱从他身上收回，也必不背弃我的信实。我必不违背我的约，也不改变我口中所出的话。

我要在那里使大卫的角长起来，我要为我的受膏者安排明灯。我要使他的仇敌都披上羞辱，但他的冠冕必在他头上发光。”

“耶和华这样说：‘你们若能废掉我所立白昼和黑夜的约，使白昼和黑夜不按时更替，就能废掉我和我仆人大卫所立的约，使他没有儿子在他的王位上作王；也能废掉我和那些事奉我的利未支派的祭司所立的约。我却必使我仆人大卫的后裔和事奉我的利未人增多，像天上的万象不能数算、海边的沙粒不能斗量。’”耶和华的话临到耶利米，说：“你没有留意列国的人民说什么吗？他们说：‘耶和华所拣选的这两个家族，他已经弃绝了。’他们藐视我的子民，不再把他们看为一个国家。耶和华这样说：‘我若没有设立白昼和黑夜的约，或立定天地的定律，我就会弃绝雅各的后裔，和我仆人大卫的后裔，不从大卫的后裔中选人出来统治亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的后裔。我却必使他们被掳的人归回，也必怜悯他们。’”

你舍弃了和你仆人所立的约，把他的冠冕玷污在地。

我的家在神面前不是这样吗？他与我立了永远的约；这约安排了一切，稳固妥当。我的一切救恩、一切愿望，他不都成全吗？

洗鲁雅的儿子亚比筛帮助了大卫；亚比筛击打那非利士人，把他杀死了。那时，跟随大卫的人向他起誓说：“以后你不可再与我们一同出去打仗，免得以色列的灯熄灭了。”

但耶和华因他仆人大卫的缘故不愿毁灭犹大，却要照他应许大卫的，赐给他和他的后裔永远有灯光延续。

耶和华实实在在向大卫起了誓，他必不会收回，他说：“我要从你的后裔中，立一位坐在你的王位上。

但是王的女儿约示巴，把亚哈谢的儿子约阿施从那些将要被杀的王子中偷出来，把他和他的乳母都藏在卧房里。约兰王的女儿约示巴是大祭司耶何耶大的妻子，把约阿施收藏起来，躲避亚他利雅，免得被亚他利雅杀死，因为约示巴是亚哈谢的妹妹。
