He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord.

暗利行耶和华看为恶的事，比他以前所有的王更厉害。他行尼八的儿子耶罗波安的一切路，犯了耶罗波安使以色列人陷在罪中的那罪；以他们虚无的神惹耶和华以色列的神发怒。暗利其余的事迹，他所行的和他所表现的英勇事迹，不是都记在以色列诸王的年代志上吗？暗利与他的列祖同睡，埋葬在撒玛利亚。他的儿子亚哈接续他作王。犹大王亚撒第三十八年，暗利的儿子亚哈登基作以色列王。暗利的儿子亚哈在撒玛利亚作以色列王，共二十二年。暗利的儿子亚哈行耶和华看为恶的事，比他以前所有的王更厉害。亚哈犯了尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪，还以为是小事。他又娶了西顿王谒巴力的女儿耶洗别作妻子，去服事巴力，敬拜巴力。他在撒玛利亚建筑巴力庙，又在庙里为巴力立了一座祭坛。亚哈又做了亚舍拉，亚哈所行的，惹耶和华以色列的神发怒，比他以前所有的以色列王更厉害。

我就责备他们，咒诅他们，击打他们中间的几个人，拔下他们的头发，叫他们指着神起誓，说：“你们决不可把自己的女儿嫁给他们的儿子，也决不可为儿子或为自己娶他们的女儿。以色列王所罗门不是在这些事上犯了罪吗？在许多国中并没有一个王能比得上他的；他蒙他的神所爱，神立他作全以色列的王，可是连他也被外族的女子引诱犯罪。
