Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said:“ This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says:‘ You have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah.

Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet. In it, Elijah said,“ The Lord is the God of your father David. The Lord says,‘ You have not followed the ways of your own father Jehoshaphat or of Asa, the king of Judah.

And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying,“ Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father,‘ Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Then Elijah the prophet wrote Jehoram this letter:“ This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: You have not followed the good example of your father, Jehoshaphat, or your grandfather King Asa of Judah.

Then a letter came to Jehoram from the prophet Elijah, saying: This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David says:“ Because you have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or in the ways of King Asa of Judah

Then a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying,“ This is what the Lord, the God of your father David says:‘ Because you have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat and the ways of Asa king of Judah,

And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord God of your father David: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Then a letter came to Jehoram from Elijah the prophet, saying: This is what Yahweh, the God of your ancestor David says:“ Because you have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or in the ways of Asa king of Judah

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Jehoram received this letter from Elijah the prophet:“ This is what the LORD God of your ancestor David says:‘ You have not followed in the footsteps of your father Jehoshaphat and of King Asa of Judah,

A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying,“ Yahweh, the God of David your father, says,‘ Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baalsbut sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel.

Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God.He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.He commanded Judah to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his laws and commands.He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him.

When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal.

Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done.

As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

“ This is the inscription that was written: mene, mene, tekel, parsin“ Here is what these words mean: Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.

Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

In everything he followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. The high places, however, were not removed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote.

“ Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah and all the other nations from the time I began speaking to you in the reign of Josiah till now.

“ Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah burned up.Also tell Jehoiakim king of Judah,‘ This is what the Lord says: You burned that scroll and said,“ Why did you write on it that the king of Babylon would certainly come and destroy this land and wipe from it both man and beast?”Therefore this is what the Lord says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He will have no one to sit on the throne of David; his body will be thrown out and exposed to the heat by day and the frost by night.I will punish him and his children and his attendants for their wickedness; I will bring on them and those living in Jerusalem and the people of Judah every disaster I pronounced against them, because they have not listened.’”So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and as Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.

Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll,which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.
