基甸又对他们说：“我有一个要求：请把你们各人夺得的耳环给我。”原来敌人都戴金耳环，因为他们是以实玛利人。他们回答：“我们愿意给你。”于是铺开一件外衣，各人把夺得的耳环丢在上面。基甸所要的金耳环，共重约二十公斤金子，此外还有米甸王身上的月牙圈、耳坠和紫红色的衣服，另外还有骆驼颈项上的链子。

他们彼此说：“我们这样作是不对的。今天是报好消息的日子，我们竟不出声，如果我们等到早上天亮，我们就算为有罪了。现在，来吧，我们要去通知王家。”他们就去呼喊守城门的，告诉他们说：“我们去过亚兰人的军营那里，看见那里一个人也没有，也没有人声。只有马仍拴着，驴仍拴着，帐幕都原封不动。”守城门的就喊叫起来，又往城内给王家报信。王在夜间起来，对他的臣仆说：“我告诉你们亚兰人对我们所作的是怎么一回事。他们知道我们闹饥荒，所以出到军营外在田野埋伏，心里说：‘他们必从城里出来。我们就可以活捉他们，进入城里去了。’”他的一位臣仆回答，说：“请叫人拉五匹剩下的马来；看哪，它们像所有剩下在这里的以色列人，都要像所有死去的以色列人一样；让我们打发人去看看吧。”于是他们取了两辆战车和马匹，王差人去追踪亚兰军，吩咐他们：“去查看吧。”他们就去追踪亚兰军直到约旦河。看哪，沿途堆满了衣物器具，就是亚兰人在匆忙逃走时丢弃的。于是使者回去向王报告。众民就出去，抢掠亚兰人的军营。于是三公斤面粉卖十一克银子，六公斤大麦也卖十一克银子，好像耶和华所说的。

无论大小，不分男女，无论是他们抢来的，或是被人掳去的，大卫都夺回来，没有失落一样。大卫夺了所有的羊群和牛群，跟从大卫的人把它们赶到原有的群畜面前，说：“这是大卫的战利品。”

但每个妇女要向她邻居的妇女，和寄居在她家中的妇女索取银器、金器和衣服，要给你们的儿女穿戴；这样，你们就把埃及人的财物掠夺了。”

摩西对他们说：“你们让这些妇女存活吗？

“带领大军的君王都逃跑了，逃跑了；住在家中的妇女分得了战利品。

智慧比红宝石更宝贵；你一切所喜爱的，都不足与智慧比较。

以色列人照着摩西的话行了，他们向埃及人索取银器金器和衣服。耶和华使以色列人在埃及人眼前蒙恩，埃及人就给了他们所要求的。这样，他们就夺去了埃及人的财物。

但靠着爱我们的那一位，我们在这一切事上就得胜有余了。
