“ But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them.

“ But here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir. You wouldn’t allow Israel to march in and attack their territory when the Israelites came from Egypt. So Israel turned away from them. They didn’t destroy them.

And now behold, the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came from the land of Egypt, and whom they avoided and did not destroy—

“ And now see what the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir are doing. You would not let our ancestors invade those nations when Israel left Egypt, so they went around them and did not destroy them.

Now here are the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir. You did not let Israel invade them when Israel came out of the land of Egypt, but Israel turned away from them and did not destroy them.

Now behold, the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, whom You did not allow Israel to invade when they came out of the land of Egypt( for they turned aside from them and did not destroy them),

And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir— whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them—

And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;

Now the Ammonites, Moabites, and men from Mount Seir are coming! When Israel came from the land of Egypt, you did not allow them to invade these lands. They bypassed them and did not destroy them.

Now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned away from them, and didn’t destroy them;

你要吩咐人民说：“你们的兄弟以扫的子孙，住在西珥，你们现在要经过他们的境界；他们必惧怕你们，所以你们要十分谨慎。不要与他们争执；他们的地，连脚掌那么大的一块，我都不给你们，因为我已经把西珥山赐给以扫作产业。

你走近亚扪人面前的时候，不可敌视他们，也不可与他们争执；亚扪人的地我不赐给你们作产业，因为我已经把那地赐给了罗得的子孙作产业。

耶和华对我说：‘你不可敌视摩押人，也不可与他们争战；他们的地我不赐给你作产业，因为我已经把亚珥赐给了罗得的子孙作产业。

求你容我们从你的地经过；我们不走过田地和葡萄园，也不喝井里的水，我们只走大路，不偏左也不偏右，直到走过了你的境地。”以东王对使者说：“你不可从我这里经过，免得我带着刀出来攻击你。”以色列人对他说：“我们要走大路上去，我们和牲畜若是喝了你的水，我必照价付你；不求别的事，只求你容我们步行经过。”以东王说：“你不可经过。”他就率领很多人出来，要用强硬的手攻击以色列人。这样，以东王不肯让以色列人从他的境内经过，以色列人就离开他去了。

对他说：“耶弗他这样说：‘以色列人并没有夺取过摩押地和亚扪人的土地。以色列人从埃及上来的时候，是走过旷野到红海，到了加低斯；就派遣使者去见以东王，说：求你让我们经过你的领土。以东王却不答应；又派遣使者去见摩押王，摩押王也不肯；以色列人就住在加低斯。以后，他们走过旷野，绕过以东地和摩押地，到了摩押地的东边，在亚嫩河那边安营；他们并没有进入摩押境内，因为亚嫩河是摩押的边界。

后来，摩押人、亚扪人和一些米乌尼人（按照《马索拉文本》，“米乌尼人”作“亚扪人”；现参照《七十士译本》的一些文本翻译；参代下26:7），一同来攻击约沙法。

当他们开始欢呼赞美的时候，耶和华就派出伏兵，击杀那前来攻打犹大人的亚扪人、摩押人和西珥山的人，他们就被击溃了。
