告訴他們，『王說，要把這人關進監牢，只給他一些餅和水，直到我平安地回來。』」

and say,‘ This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.’”

and say,‘ Thus says the king, Put this fellow in prison and feed him with meager rations of bread and water until I return in peace.’”

亞撒聽了就對先見發怒，把他囚禁在監獄裡，同時又壓迫一些民眾。

大衛曾說：「我在曠野保護這人的羊群，使牠們不致丟失，真是枉費功夫。他竟以怨報德。

因為你們已經清楚知道，將來有一天，主會突然來到，像賊在夜裡忽然出現一樣。當人們正在說一切平安穩妥的時候，災禍會像產痛臨到孕婦一樣突然臨到他們，令他們無法逃脫。

法利賽人聽見後卻說：「祂不過是靠鬼王別西卜趕鬼罷了。」

要歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上有很大的獎賞。他們也曾這樣迫害以前的先知。

王卻說：「我要囑咐你多少次，你才肯奉耶和華的名對我說實話呢？」

指控祂說：「這人蠱惑民心，禁止百姓向凱撒納稅，又說自己是基督，是君王。」

以色列王下令說：「把米該雅交給亞們總督和約阿施王子，告訴他們，『王說，要把這人關在監牢，只給他一些餅和水，直到我平安地回來。』」米該雅說：「如果你能夠平安地回來，耶和華就沒有藉著我說話。」他又說：「眾民啊，你們都記住我的話。」

他們凡事順利，對你的審判不屑一顧，對所有的仇敵嗤之以鼻。

免得有人聽了這誓言後，心存僥倖地說，『即使我一意孤行，連累他人，也必平安無事。』

便把使徒拘捕，關在監裡。

便下令毆打耶利米先知，把他囚禁在耶和華殿的便雅憫上門處。第二天，他釋放了耶利米，耶利米對他說：「耶和華不再叫你巴施戶珥，要叫你瑪歌珥·米撒畢。

雖然主讓你們經苦難、歷艱辛，但你們的教師必不再隱藏，你們必親眼看見你們的教師。

他們自稱是基督的僕人，我說句狂話，我更是！我比他們更辛苦，坐牢更多，身受更重的鞭打，經常出生入死。

眾人一聽到這裡，就高喊：「從世上除掉這樣的人！他不配活著！」

智者小心謹慎，遠離惡事；愚人驕傲自負，行事魯莽。

地上萬民便興高采烈，互相送禮道賀，因為這兩位先知曾使地上的人受苦。

我以爐灰為食物，眼淚拌著水喝，

你使我們以淚洗面，以哀傷果腹，

分封王希律娶了自己弟弟的妻子希羅底，又做了許多惡事，因而受到約翰的指責，可是他卻惡上加惡，將約翰關進監牢裡。
