His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord; furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.

他作王第八年，尚且年輕，就尋求他祖先大衛的上帝。到了十二年，他開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除掉丘壇、亞舍拉、雕刻的像和鑄造的像。眾人在他面前拆毀諸巴力的壇，砍斷壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉和雕刻的像，以及鑄造的像打碎成灰，撒在向偶像獻祭之人的墳上，把祭司的骸骨燒在他們的壇上，潔淨了猶大和耶路撒冷。他又在瑪拿西、以法蓮、西緬、拿弗他利各城和四圍的廢墟，拆毀祭壇，把亞舍拉和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍斷以色列全地所有的香壇。於是他回耶路撒冷去了。

說：「你這充滿各樣詭詐奸惡，魔鬼的兒子，一切正義的仇敵，你還不停止扭曲主的正道嗎？

他們要歌頌耶和華的作為，因耶和華大有榮耀。

這一切事都完畢以後，在那裏的以色列眾人就到猶大的城鎮，打碎柱像，砍斷亞舍拉，又在猶大、便雅憫、以法蓮、瑪拿西遍地把丘壇和祭壇完全拆毀。於是以色列眾人各回各城，各歸自己產業的地去了。

那時，你要以全能者為喜樂，向上帝仰臉。

因為我遵守耶和華的道，未曾作惡離開我的上帝。他的一切典章常在我面前，他的律例我也未曾丟棄。

智慧人必明白這些事，聰明人必知道這一切。耶和華的道是正直的，義人行在其中，罪人卻在其上跌倒。

行為正直、遵行耶和華律法的，這人有福了！

除掉外邦的祭壇和丘壇，打碎柱像，砍下亞舍拉，

因為你富裕的時候，不以歡喜快樂的心事奉耶和華－你的上帝，
