示撒帶着一千二百輛戰車，六萬名騎兵，以及跟隨他從埃及出來的路比人、蘇基人和古實人的軍隊，多得不可勝數。

那時，哈拿尼先見來見猶大王亞撒，對他說：「因你仰賴亞蘭王，沒有仰賴耶和華－你的上帝，所以亞蘭王的軍兵逃脫了你的手。

那時，以色列人被制伏了。猶大人得勝，因為他們倚靠耶和華－他們列祖的上帝。

耶和華要作受欺壓者的庇護所，在患難時的庇護所。耶和華啊，認識你名的人要倚靠你，因你沒有離棄尋求你的人。
