手拿香爐要燒香的烏西雅大怒，正當他在耶和華殿裡的香壇旁向眾祭司發怒的時候，他額頭上突然患了痲瘋病。

他們被毒打一頓，又被關進監獄，官長命獄卒嚴密看守。獄卒接到命令後把他們關進內牢，雙腳上了枷鎖。

原來希律為他兄弟腓力的妻子希羅底的緣故，拘捕了約翰，把他捆綁起來關在監裡。因為約翰曾多次對他說：「你娶這個婦人是不對的。」

便下令毆打耶利米先知，把他囚禁在耶和華殿的便雅憫上門處。

又把城裡的人帶出來，讓他們從事鋸木、耕田、砍樹和做磚的工作。他用同樣的方式對待亞捫其他城邑的居民。之後，大衛和全軍返回耶路撒冷。

我情願受義人出於愛心的責打，他們的責打是良藥，我不會逃避。我要不斷地用禱告抵擋惡人的行徑。

大衛統計了人口以後，內心不安，就對耶和華說：「我做這事犯了大罪。耶和華啊，求你赦免僕人的罪，我做了極其愚昧的事。」第二天早上，耶和華對大衛的先見——迦得先知說：「你去告訴大衛，耶和華說，『我有三樣災禍，你可以選擇讓我降哪一樣給你。』」迦得就來見大衛，對他說：「你願意國內有七年饑荒呢？還是被敵人追殺三個月呢？還是國內發生三天瘟疫呢？請你考慮好後告訴我，我好回覆那差我來的。」大衛說：「我實在為難！不過我寧願落在耶和華的手中，也不願落在人的手中，因為耶和華有無限的憐憫。」

我必把這杯給苦待你的人，他們曾對你說，『趴下，我們好從你身上走過。』你曾把你的背當作地面，當作街道任人踐踏。」

大衛差人把她接來，她來了，大衛就與她同寢，那時她的月經剛潔淨。事後，她便回家去了。

糾正嘲諷者，必自招羞辱；責備惡人，必自招傷害。不要責備嘲諷者，免得他恨你；要責備智者，他必愛你。教導智者，他就更有智慧；指教義人，他就更有見識。
