Some worthless scoundrels gathered around him and opposed Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young and indecisive and not strong enough to resist them.

罗波安王在耶路撒冷巩固了自己的势力，继续做王。他四十一岁登基，在耶路撒冷执政十七年。耶和华从以色列众支派中选择耶路撒冷作为立祂名的城。罗波安的母亲叫拿玛，是亚扪人。

从巴力·比利土的庙里拿了七十块银子给他。他用这些钱收买了一班无赖做随从。

以色列人见王不听他们的请求，就说：“我们与大卫有何相干？我们与耶西的儿子没有关系！以色列人啊，各自回家吧！大卫家啊，自己照顾自己吧！”于是，以色列人都各自回家了。

弟兄姊妹，你们的思想不要像小孩子，要长大成熟，但在罪恶的事上要像婴孩。

又叫两名无赖当众作证指控拿伯咒诅上帝和君王。然后众人把拿伯拖出城外，用石头打死了他。

罗波安回到耶路撒冷，从犹大和便雅悯支派召集了十八万精兵，要攻打以色列，收复全国。然而，耶和华上帝对祂的仆人示玛雅说：“你去告诉所罗门的儿子犹大王罗波安和所有住在犹大和便雅悯的以色列人，耶和华这样说，‘你们不要上去与弟兄交战，都回家吧，因为这事出于我。’”众人听从了耶和华的话，没有去攻打耶罗波安，各自回家去了。

所有受压迫的、负债的和心怀不满的人都纷纷来投奔他。大卫就做了他们的首领，跟随他的有四百多人。

努力耕耘者丰衣足食；追求虚荣者愚不可及。

一国之君若年幼无知，他的臣宰从早到晚只顾宴乐，那国就有祸了！

主必使少儿做他们的首领，让孩童治理他们。

耶弗他只好逃走，住在陀伯地区。有一群匪徒跟随了他。
