Judah turned and saw that they were being attacked at both front and rear. Then they cried out to the Lord. The priests blew their trumpets

艾城的人回頭發現城內煙氣沖天，卻無路可逃，因為那些詐敗的以色列人已掉頭攻擊他們。

戰車長看見約沙法，以為他就是以色列王，便轉身攻擊他。約沙法高聲喊叫，耶和華上帝就幫助他，使敵人離開他。

以色列全軍在巴力·他瑪列陣反攻，埋伏在基比亞西面的以色列人也衝了出來。有一萬以色列精兵從正面攻打基比亞，戰事非常激烈。便雅憫人大禍臨頭了仍懵然不知。耶和華幫助以色列人戰勝了便雅憫人。那天，以色列人殺了便雅憫兩萬五千一百刀兵。便雅憫人這才意識到自己戰敗了。原來以色列人在便雅憫人面前詐敗，因為他們已在基比亞附近設下伏兵。那些伏兵迅速衝進基比亞，殺了全城的人。以色列人和伏兵已有約定，伏兵在城內點起一股濃煙時，以色列人便轉身殺回。便雅憫人殺了詐敗的以色列軍大約三十人，以為像以前一樣打敗了他們。這時基比亞城已濃煙滾滾，便雅憫人回頭觀望，只見全城濃煙四起。以色列人轉身殺了回來，便雅憫人大驚失色，知道大禍臨頭了。他們從以色列人面前轉身逃往曠野，卻無法逃脫。以色列人從各城出來夾攻他們。以色列人圍攻便雅憫人，一路追殺他們直到基比亞的東邊。

在患難中呼求我，我必拯救你，你必尊崇我。」

亞捫人在城門前列陣，瑣巴和利合的亞蘭人、陀伯人以及瑪迦人在郊野列陣。約押見自己前後受敵，就從以色列軍中挑選一些精兵迎戰亞蘭人，把餘下的軍兵交給他的兄弟亞比篩帶領，迎戰亞捫人。他對亞比篩說：「倘若我勝不過亞蘭人，你便過來支援我；倘若你勝不過亞捫人，我便過去支援你。我們要剛強，為我們的人民和我們上帝的城邑而奮勇作戰。願耶和華成全祂自己的旨意！」於是，約押率領軍兵進攻亞蘭人，亞蘭人敗逃。亞捫人見亞蘭人敗逃，也從亞比篩面前逃回城去。約押打完亞捫人，便回師耶路撒冷。

你必不懼怕黑夜的恐怖，或白日的飛箭，

以色列人看見法老大軍追了上來，非常害怕，便呼求耶和華。
