主人就稱讚這不義的管家作事精明。因為對付自己的世代，今世之子竟比亮光之子更精明了。

那時哈及的兒子亞多尼雅高抬自己、說：『我要做王』；就為自己豫備車輛、駿馬、和五十個人在他前面奔走。他父親從來沒有使他難過，沒有問過他說：『你為甚麼這樣作？』他丰姿非常俊美；是在押沙龍之後生的。

他們的父親將許多恩物：金銀、寶貴之物、同猶大地的幾座堡障城、賜給他們：卻只將國權賜給約蘭，因為他是長子。
