So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from God, to fulfill the word the Lord had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.

So the king didn’t listen to the people. That’s because God had planned it that way. What the Lord had said through Ahijah came true. Ahijah had spoken the Lord’ s message to Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. Ahijah was from Shiloh.

So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a turn of affairs brought about by God that the Lord might fulfill his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

一時耶羅波安出耶路撒冷、示羅人先知亞希雅遇之於途、耶羅波安適衣新衣、二人在郊野、旁無他人、亞希雅取耶羅波安所衣之新衣、裂為十二片、謂之曰、爾取其十片、蓋主以色列之天主如是云、我必以國奪於所羅門手、賜爾十支派、第緣我僕大衛、又緣我在以色列諸支派中、所選之耶路撒冷、我必使一支派仍歸於彼、蓋因所羅門與其家違棄我、崇拜西頓人之女神亞斯他錄、摩押神基抹、亞捫神米勒公、不從我道、不行善於我前、不守我律例法度、不效其父大衛、然我不奪全國於所羅門之手、緣我所選之僕大衛謹守我誡命律例、必使所羅門為王、至於終身、必奪國於其子手、賜十支派於爾、以一支派賜其子、使我僕大衛於所選歸我名之耶路撒冷邑、於我前歷世有光、光或作明燈我擇爾為王、任爾所欲、使為以色列王、如爾聽從我命、遵行我道、為善於我前、謹守我律例誡命、效我僕大衛所為、則我必祐祐原文作偕爾、為爾建立恆久之家、如我為大衛建立然、將以色列人賜爾、我必緣所羅門所行、原文作我必緣此使大衛後裔受患難、但不至於永久、

耶穌被解、循天主預知及天主定旨、爾曹借惡人之手、取而釘之死、

主使伊及侯伯、心皆昏昧、以致使伊及人諸事差謬、若醉者哇吐時、跬步不穩、

所羅門其餘始終之事、載於先知拿單之書、與示羅人亞希雅預言之書、及先見耶多論尼八子耶羅波安默示之書、

主曰、誰能誘亞哈、使往往原文作上基列之拉末而殞亡乎、此言當如此、彼言當如彼、

王不順民、乃出乎主、以應主藉示羅人亞希雅告尼八子耶羅波安之言、

父母不知斯事出乎主、以尋攻非利士人之由、蓋是時以色列人為非利士人所轄、

以成爾權爾旨預定之事、

希實本王西宏不容我過其地、因主爾之天主使其心意頑梗剛愎、致付於爾手、有如今日之事、

耶穌雖行異跡於眾前若此之多、眾猶不之信、為應先知以賽亞之言云、主、我所傳聞、誰信乎、主所顯之大力、誰見乎、彼眾不能信、因以賽亞復云、

故以色列聖主如是云、爾棄此命、恃強暴、賴偽妄、偽妄或作奸惡之事故爾斯罪、必使爾如坼裂將傾之高墻、忽然毀圮、

兵卒至、將與耶穌同釘之二人、一一折其股、及至耶穌前、見其已死、因不折其股、一卒以戈刺其脅、即有血與水流出、見者為證、其證乃真、自知所言為真、使爾曹信也、斯事得成、為應經所載云、其骨不折、

兵卒相語曰、毋裂之、可為之鬮、以觀誰得、是為應經所載云、彼分我外服、為我裏衣而鬮、兵卒所為者果如是也、

主如是云、此事出乎我、爾勿往、往原文作上勿與同族同族原文作兄弟以色列人戰、各歸己家、民遂聽主言、遵主命而歸、○
