於是王派人把猶大和耶路撒冷的眾長老都召集了來。王和猶大眾人、耶路撒冷的居民、祭司、利未人，以及所有的人民，無論大小，都一同上耶和華的殿去；王就把在耶和華殿裡發現的約書上的一切話，都誦讀給他們聽。

希西家王清早起來，召集城中的領袖，上耶和華的殿去。

因為王和眾領袖，以及耶路撒冷的全體會眾曾經商議，要在二月守逾越節。

大衛與千夫長、百夫長和所有的領袖商議。

後來發現以利亞撒的子孫中，比以他瑪的子孫有更多作首領的，就把他們分開班次；以利亞撒子孫中作首領的，按著他們的家族有十六人；以他瑪子孫中作首領的，按著他們的家族有八人。

於是，大衛把以色列人都招聚到耶路撒冷，要把耶和華的約櫃抬上來，到大衛給它預備好的地方去。

大衛王對全體會眾說：“我的兒子所羅門，是神所揀選的，現在還年幼識淺，而這工程非常浩大；因為這殿宇不是為人建造，而是為耶和華神建造的。

他們在大衛王、撒督、亞希米勒，以及祭司和利未人的家族首領面前也抽了籤，好像他們的親族亞倫的子孫一樣；各家族首領和他們年幼的兄弟都一樣抽了籤。

對他們說：“你們是利未人各家族的首領，你們和你們的親族都要自潔，好把以色列的神耶和華的約櫃抬上來，到我為它預備的地方去。
