弟兄們，我們奉我們主耶穌基督的名囑咐你們，凡有弟兄游手好閒地流蕩、不按着你們從我們所領受的傳統教訓而行的、你們要避開。你們自己原知道該怎樣效法我們；因為我們在你們中間並沒有游手好閒，也沒有白喫過甚麼人的飯，倒是辛苦勞碌、黑夜白日地作工，免得加重你們任何人的負擔。這不是說我們沒有權利，我們乃是要將自己給你們做榜樣，讓你們效法我們。我們在你們那裏的時候、也屢次囑咐你們說：『人若不肯作工，就不該喫飯。』現在我們聽說你們中間有人游手好閒地流蕩，一事不作，反而好管閒事。

就是從你們自己中間、也必有人起來、說乖僻的話，要把門徒牽走、去跟從他們。

祝頌和咒詛都從同一個口裏出來：我的弟兄們，這是不該這樣的。

你們要住在那一家，喫喝他們所供給的；因為工人得酬報是應當的。不要從這家搬到那家。

你們中間別有人因做兇手或盜賊、或為非作惡、或騷擾社會、而受苦了。
