我欲兄弟知、已死者勿為之憂、效絕望者所為、

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

當時、爾遠基督、以色列之政不與、諸應許之約不及、悉無所望、處世不識上帝、

長眠於地下者、其數甚眾、必甦而起、得永生者有之、受永辱者有之、

造物以來、列祖云亡、萬物如故、主許復臨、則未之見、

屈膝大呼曰、主乎、勿以此罪歸之、言畢而逝、掃羅見其死、亦喜、

主為我死、使我或存或亡、與主俱生、

言竟、又曰、我友拉撒路寢、我往醒之、門徒曰、主、彼寢則愈、耶穌言此、指其死、門徒意其謂安寢也、

又次現與五百餘兄弟、同時見之、其中雖有死者、然大半猶存焉、

蓋大闢生時、遵上帝旨、卒則與祖同朽、

敬虔者葬士提反、為之拊膺大哭、

大闢既薨、與祖父同葬於大闢邑。

我知救主恆在、終必降臨、迨至膚敗肉消、克覲上帝、我目睹之、實我救主、而非仇敵、我心之大願如此。

惡人行橫逆而見驅、義者雖死亡而有望。

眾哭而哀、耶穌曰、勿哭、女非死、寢耳、眾知其已死、哂之、

主謂我曰、人子、此骨譬諸以色列全家、彼曰我命已喪、我骨已枯、我望已絕。

我奉主命而言、迨主臨日、我儕尚生存、必不先諸死者起、

爾皆係爾上帝耶和華之子、毋為死者薙髮割肉、蓋爾上帝耶和華、特於天下億兆間、遴選爾曹、以爾為寶、成聖之民。

墓啟、而既逝之聖、其身多復起出墓者、

即宗基督而死者、亦沉淪也、宗基督而第今生有望、則較苦於眾、

良朋當思之、主觀一日猶千年、千年猶一日、

兄弟乎、余甚欲爾知、我每立志就爾、願於爾中結果、如在他邦、然至今猶有所阻、

不然、則我主我王返本之後、我與我子將視同罪人矣。

馬大曰、我知末日復生時、彼必復生、

勿為死者割肉、勿黥爾身、為我耶和華所禁。

吾欲兄弟知、吾在亞西亞遭苦、見壓特甚、勢不可當、欲保生命、已絕其望、

我欲兄弟知、我列祖皆在雲蓋之下、徑行海中、

人子、我必使爾所愛之妻、忽焉而亡、爾勿哀哭、勿下淚、為死者毋揚爾聲、毋露爾首、毋去爾履、毋掩爾口、毋食苦餅。以西結曰、我朝與民言、而夕妻死、詰朝、我循命而行。

子女群來相勸、父不受慰、曰、我必悲哀、至於幽冥、就子乃已、父之痛子如此。

大闢見臣僕切切私語、意子已死、故問臣僕曰、子死否。曰、死。大闢遂起、濯身沐膏、更衣入耶和華室而崇拜、旋返宮庭、使人設席、以供己食。

吾欲兄弟知聖神所賜、

王甚憂、登邑門之樓而哭、且行且言曰、我子押沙龍、我子我子押沙龍、我願代爾死、我子我子押沙龍。

我裸而出世、亦必裸而歸土、耶和華賜之、耶和華取之、當頌讚耶和華。
