對於已亡之人、勿過於哀傷、一如未具望德者之所為；此吾不欲兄弟之不知也。

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope.

But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

At that time you were without the Messiah, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to shame and eternal contempt.

saying,“ Where is the promise of His coming? Ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they have been since the beginning of creation.”

Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep.

who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.

He said this, and then He told them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I’m on My way to wake him up.”Then the disciples said to Him,“ Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.”Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought He was speaking about natural sleep.

Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep.

For David, after serving his own generation in God’s plan, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and decayed.

Devout men buried Stephen and mourned deeply over him.

Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of David.

But I know my living Redeemer, and He will stand on the dust at last.Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet I will see God in my flesh.I will see Him myself; my eyes will look at Him, and not as a stranger. My heart longs within me.

The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.

Everyone was crying and mourning for her. But He said,“ Stop crying, for she is not dead but asleep.”They started laughing at Him, because they knew she was dead.

Then He said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say,‘ Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished; we are cut off.’

For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep.

“ You are sons of the Lord your God; do not cut yourselves or make a bald spot on your head on behalf of the dead,for you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

The tombs were also opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.

Therefore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.If we have put our hope in Christ for this life only, we should be pitied more than anyone.

Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

Now I want you to know, brothers, that I often planned to come to you( but was prevented until now) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry among you, just as among the rest of the Gentiles.

Otherwise, when my lord the king rests with his fathers, I and my son Solomon will be regarded as criminals.”

Martha said,“ I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

You are not to make gashes on your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves; I am Yahweh.

For we don’t want you to be unaware, brothers, of our affliction that took place in Asia: we were completely overwhelmed— beyond our strength— so that we even despaired of life.

Now I want you to know, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, all passed through the sea,

“ Son of man, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you with a fatal blow. But you must not lament or weep or let your tears flow.Groan quietly; do not observe mourning rites for the dead. The next morning I did just as I was commanded.

All his sons and daughters tried to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted.“ No,” he said.“ I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” And his father wept for him.

When David saw that his servants were whispering to each other, he guessed that the baby was dead. So he asked his servants,“ Is the baby dead?”“ He is dead,” they replied.Then David got up from the ground. He washed, anointed himself, changed his clothes, went to the Lord’s house, and worshiped. Then he went home and requested something to eat. So they served him food, and he ate.

Now concerning what comes from the Spirit: brothers, I do not want you to be unaware.

The king was deeply moved and went up to the gate chamber and wept. As he walked, he cried,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

saying: Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will leave this life. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Praise the name of Yahweh.
