I am not writing these things to shame you, but to warn you as my beloved children.For even if you had ten thousand others to teach you about Christ, you have only one spiritual father. For I became your father in Christ Jesus when I preached the Good News to you.

I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the highest angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.

Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.

I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom:Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but instead we were like children among you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children.

“ And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

Embrace her, and she will honor you.She will place a lovely wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown.”My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life.I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths.When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.

The sayings of King Lemuel contain this message, which his mother taught him.O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows,do not waste your strength on women, on those who ruin kings.It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to guzzle wine. Rulers should not crave alcohol.For if they drink, they may forget the law and not give justice to the oppressed.Alcohol is for the dying, and wine for those in bitter distress.Let them drink to forget their poverty and remember their troubles no more.Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.

So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words.

And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate,

My child, don’t go along with them! Stay far away from their paths.

In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely.

So they sent this message to Joseph:“ Before your father died, he instructed usto say to you:‘ Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you— for their sin in treating you so cruelly.’ So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.” When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept.

We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living.

Instead, commission Joshua and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead the people across the Jordan. He will give them all the land you now see before you as their possession.’

If the masters are believers, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. Those slaves should work all the harder because their efforts are helping other believers who are well loved. Teach these things, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.

With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.

“ Now, my son, may the Lord be with you and give you success as you follow his directions in building the Temple of the Lord your God.And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.For you will be successful if you carefully obey the decrees and regulations that the Lord gave to Israel through Moses. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.

My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.

Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back

You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them. You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don’t let anyone disregard what you say.
