as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,

你們也曉得，我們怎樣勸勉你們，安慰你們，囑咐你們各人，好像父親待自己的兒女一樣，

你們也知道，我們對待你們就像父親對待自己的孩子一樣。

正如你們知道的，我們是怎樣好像父親對待兒女一樣對待你們各人：

你們也知道、我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女一般：既勸勉着你們，又撫慰又誓求着你們，

正如你們知道我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女那樣；

爾亦知我儕如何視爾各人、猶父之於子、勸勉、安慰、指證、

爾知我勸慰、丁寧爾眾、猶父之勵厥子、

爾亦知我儕勤勉安慰爾中各人、如父於子然、

蓋爾等固知我等待爾人人、一如為父者之待其子、獎掖慰勉、耳提面命、

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,

You know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

For you know how, like a father with his children,

And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

As you know, like a father with his own children,

just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,

As you know, like a father with his own children,

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father[ doth] his children,

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,

I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you.For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.

Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children.

“ As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Behold, the days approach when you must die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of meeting, that I may inaugurate him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of meeting.

And David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God— my God— will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding;For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law.When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,He also taught me, and said to me:“ Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live.Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many.I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble.

The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him:What, my son? And what, son of my womb? And what, son of my vows?Do not give your strength to women, Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, Nor for princes intoxicating drink;Lest they drink and forget the law, And pervert the justice of all the afflicted.Give strong drink to him who is perishing, And wine to those who are bitter of heart.Let him drink and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more.Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die.Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth:

I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path;

Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded,

So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying,“ Before your father died he commanded, saying,‘ Thus you shall say to Joseph:“ I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.”’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.

But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.’

And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,

Now, my son, may the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you.Only may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.

My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,

My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;

And these things command, that they may be blameless.

My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you.

Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back,

My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding,That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.

Now when he had gone over that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to Greece

And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words.

Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
