You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

You are witnesses of how we lived among you believers. God is also a witness that we were holy and godly and without blame.

You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers.

You yourselves are our witnesses— and so is God— that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers.

But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,

nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;

For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you;

When the ear heard, then it blessed me, And when the eye saw, then it approved me;Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper.The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban.I was eyes to the blind, And I was feet to the lame.I was a father to the poor, And I searched out the case that I did not know.I broke the fangs of the wicked, And plucked the victim from his teeth.

For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness— God is witness.

Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.

Shall evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my life. Remember that I stood before You To speak good for them, To turn away Your wrath from them.

We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed.But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses,in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings;by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love,by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed;as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.

But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel.Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me.

Here I am. Witness against me before the Lord and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I received any bribe with which to blind my eyes? I will restore it to you.”And they said,“ You have not cheated us or oppressed us, nor have you taken anything from any man’s hand.”Then he said to them,“ The Lord is witness against you, and His anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand.” And they answered,“ He is witness.”

Why? Because I do not love you? God knows!

O Lord my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands,If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause,Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; Yes, let him trample my life to the earth, And lay my honor in the dust. Selah

Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.

Open your hearts to us. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have cheated no one.

Then Moses was very angry, and said to the Lord,“ Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I hurt one of them.”

“ I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman?For what is the allotment of God from above, And the inheritance of the Almighty from on high?Is it not destruction for the wicked, And disaster for the workers of iniquity?Does He not see my ways, And count all my steps?“ If I have walked with falsehood, Or if my foot has hastened to deceit,Let me be weighed on honest scales, That God may know my integrity.If my step has turned from the way, Or my heart walked after my eyes, Or if any spot adheres to my hands,Then let me sow, and another eat; Yes, let my harvest be rooted out.“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,Then let my wife grind for another, And let others bow down over her.For that would be wickedness; Yes, it would be iniquity deserving of judgment.For that would be a fire that consumes to destruction, And would root out all my increase.“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,What then shall I do when God rises up? When He punishes, how shall I answer Him?Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?“ If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,Or eaten my morsel by myself, So that the fatherless could not eat of it( But from my youth I reared him as a father, And from my mother’s womb I guided the widow);If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, Or any poor man without covering;If his heart has not blessed me, And if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;If I have raised my hand against the fatherless, When I saw I had help in the gate;Then let my arm fall from my shoulder, Let my arm be torn from the socket.For destruction from God is a terror to me, And because of His magnificence I cannot endure.“ If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold,‘ You are my confidence’;If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gained much;If I have observed the sun when it shines, Or the moon moving in brightness,So that my heart has been secretly enticed, And my mouth has kissed my hand;This also would be an iniquity deserving of judgment, For I would have denied God who is above.“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted myself up when evil found him( Indeed I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking for a curse on his soul);If the men of my tent have not said,‘ Who is there that has not been satisfied with his meat?’( But no sojourner had to lodge in the street, For I have opened my doors to the traveler);If I have covered my transgressions as Adam, By hiding my iniquity in my bosom,Because I feared the great multitude, And dreaded the contempt of families, So that I kept silence And did not go out of the door—Oh, that I had one to hear me! Here is my mark. Oh, that the Almighty would answer me, That my Prosecutor had written a book!Surely I would carry it on my shoulder, And bind it on me like a crown;I would declare to Him the number of my steps; Like a prince I would approach Him.“ If my land cries out against me, And its furrows weep together;If I have eaten its fruit without money, Or caused its owners to lose their lives;

The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.For I have kept the ways of the Lord, And have not wickedly departed from my God.For all His judgments were before me, And I did not put away His statutes from me.I was also blameless before Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity.Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.
