For you know how, like a father with his children,

你们也晓得，我们怎样劝勉你们，安慰你们，嘱咐你们各人，好像父亲待自己的儿女一样，

你們也知道、我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女一般：既勸勉着你們，又撫慰又誓求着你們，

正如你們知道我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女那樣；

爾亦知我儕如何視爾各人、猶父之於子、勸勉、安慰、指證、

爾知我勸慰、丁寧爾眾、猶父之勵厥子、

爾亦知我儕勤勉安慰爾中各人、如父於子然、

蓋爾等固知我等待爾人人、一如為父者之待其子、獎掖慰勉、耳提面命、

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,

You know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

As you know, like a father with his own children,

just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,

as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,

As you know, like a father with his own children,

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father[ doth] his children,

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,

I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.

Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children.

“ And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ Behold, the days approach when you must die. Call Joshua and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that I may commission him.” And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tent of meeting.

Then David said to Solomon his son,“ Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.

Hear, O sons, a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight,for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching.When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother,he taught me and said to me,“ Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live.Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her.She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.”Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.

The words of King Lemuel. An oracle that his mother taught him:What are you doing, my son? What are you doing, son of my womb? What are you doing, son of my vows?Do not give your strength to women, your ways to those who destroy kings.It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to take strong drink,lest they drink and forget what has been decreed and pervert the rights of all the afflicted.Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress;let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

And now, O sons, listen to me, and be attentive to the words of my mouth.

I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,

my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths,

Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.

So they sent a message to Joseph, saying,“ Your father gave this command before he died:‘ Say to Joseph,“ Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.

But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall go over at the head of this people, and he shall put them in possession of the land that you shall see.’

Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things.

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.

“ Now, my son, the Lord be with you, so that you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God, as he has spoken concerning you.Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.Then you will prosper if you are careful to observe the statutes and the rules that the Lord commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Fear not; do not be dismayed.

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you,

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,

Command these things as well, so that they may be without reproach.

My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you;

Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, have given your pledge for a stranger,

My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding,that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge.

When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece.

I appeal to you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.

Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
