至吾儕之與爾等信徒相處、如何潔身自好、正直無私、無可指摘、此不惟爾等知之、即天主亦可為證也。

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

You are witnesses of how we lived among you believers. God is also a witness that we were holy and godly and without blame.

You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers.

You yourselves are our witnesses— and so is God— that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers.

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly, righteously, and blamelessly we conducted ourselves with you believers.

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly and rightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers;

You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;

Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and righteously and unblamably we behaved ourselves toward you that believe:

and that our Good News came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of men we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake.

For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

In all things be showing yourself an example of good works. In your teaching, be showing integrity, seriousness, incorruptibility,and soundness of speech that can’t be condemned, that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us.

When they had come to him, he said to them,“ You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,

But you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,

not as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.

For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you,

For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it commended me:Because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had no one to help him,the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him who I didn’t know.I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.

For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness( God is witness),

Therefore I testify to you today that I am clean from the blood of all men,

Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.

We give no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service may not be blamed,but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of God, in great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;in pureness, in knowledge, in perseverance, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love,in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and not killed;as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

In this I also practice always having a conscience void of offense toward God and men.

But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

I coveted no one’s silver, gold, or clothing.You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me.

Here I am. Witness against me before Yahweh, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes? I will restore it to you.”They said,“ You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from anyone’s hand.”He said to them,“ Yahweh is witness against you, and his anointed is witness today, that you have not found anything in my hand.” They said,“ He is witness.”

Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows.

Yahweh, my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands,if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me( yes, I have delivered him who without cause was my adversary),let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; yes, let him tread my life down to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are revealed to God, and I hope that we are revealed also in your consciences.

Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.

The God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, he who is blessed forever more, knows that I don’t lie.

Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one.

Moses was very angry, and said to Yahweh,“ Don’t respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.”

“ I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman?For what is the portion from God above, and the heritage from the Almighty on high?Is it not calamity to the unrighteous, and disaster to the workers of iniquity?Doesn’t he see my ways, and count all my steps?“ If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot has hurried to deceit( let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity);if my step has turned out of the way, if my heart walked after my eyes, if any defilement has stuck to my hands,then let me sow, and let another eat. Yes, let the produce of my field be rooted out.“ If my heart has been enticed to a woman, and I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door,then let my wife grind for another, and let others sleep with her.For that would be a heinous crime. Yes, it would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges;for it is a fire that consumes to destruction, and would root out all my increase.“ If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,what then will I do when God rises up? When he visits, what will I answer him?Didn’t he who made me in the womb make him? Didn’t one fashion us in the womb?“ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it( no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, I have guided her from my mother’s womb);if I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or that the needy had no covering;if his heart hasn’t blessed me, if he hasn’t been warmed with my sheep’s fleece;if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate,then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, and my arm be broken from the bone.For calamity from God is a terror to me. Because of his majesty, I can do nothing.“ If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold,‘ You are my confidence;’If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;if I have seen the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in splendor,and my heart has been secretly enticed, and my hand threw a kiss from my mouth,this also would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges; for I should have denied the God who is above.“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him( yes, I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse);if the men of my tent have not said,‘ Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?’( the foreigner has not camped in the street, but I have opened my doors to the traveler);if like Adam I have covered my transgressions, by hiding my iniquity in my heart,because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and didn’t go out of the door—oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me! Let the accuser write my indictment!Surely I would carry it on my shoulder; and I would bind it to me as a crown.I would declare to him the number of my steps. as a prince would I go near to him.If my land cries out against me, and its furrows weep together;if I have eaten its fruits without money, or have caused its owners to lose their life,

Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands, he has recompensed me.For I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and have not wickedly departed from my God.For all his ordinances were before me. I didn’t put away his statutes from me.I was also blameless with him. I kept myself from my iniquity.Therefore Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
