They are doing just as they have always done. They have deserted me and served other gods. They have done that from the time I brought them up out of Egypt until this day. Now they are deserting you too.

「我們還不如當初在埃及就死在耶和華手中。在那裡，我們至少可以圍在肉鍋旁吃個飽。現在，你把我們帶到曠野來，是要叫全體會眾餓死在這裡嗎？」

耶和華向他們發怒，說：「這百姓違背了我跟他們祖先所立的約，不聽從我的話。

他們在曠野大起貪念，試探上帝。祂滿足了他們的要求，但在他們當中降下了瘟疫。他們還在營中嫉妒摩西和耶和華揀選為祭司的亞倫。於是大地裂開，吞沒了大坍、亞比蘭和他們的家人。火在他們的黨羽中燒起，消滅了這些惡人。他們在何烈山鑄造牛犢，祭拜偶像，他們把榮耀的上帝變成了吃草之牛的鑄像。他們忘記了拯救他們的上帝，祂曾在埃及行奇事，

百姓見摩西遲遲沒有下山，就聚集到亞倫那裡，對他說：「領我們離開埃及的那個摩西不知怎樣了，你給我們造神像來帶領我們吧。」

「你們這些頑固不化、耳不聽心不悔的人，經常抗拒聖靈，所作所為和你們的祖先如出一轍！哪一位先知沒有被你們祖先迫害？那些預言義者——彌賽亞要來的人也被你們的祖先殺害。如今你們竟出賣了那位公義者，殺害了祂！你們接受了上帝藉天使所傳的律法，竟不遵守！」

以笏死後，以色列人又做耶和華視為惡的事。

可是，他們仍舊試探上帝，反叛至高者，不遵行祂的法度。他們跟祖先一樣背信棄義，像斷弓一樣毫不可靠。他們建造邱壇，惹祂發怒；他們豎起神像，令祂憤怒。上帝知道了他們的惡行，怒不可遏，徹底棄絕了以色列人。

你們不可跟這裡的居民立約，要毀掉他們的祭壇。』可是你們為什麼不聽呢？因此，我告訴你們，我必不趕走這裡的居民，他們必成為你們肋旁的刺，他們的神明必成為你們的網羅。」

聯合二百五十名在以色列會眾中有聲望的首領反叛摩西，一起攻擊摩西和亞倫，說：「你們太過分了！全體會眾都是聖潔的，有耶和華住在他們當中，你們憑什麼將自己置於耶和華的會眾之上？」

他們埋怨摩西和亞倫說：「我們還不如死在埃及或曠野！耶和華為什麼把我們領到這裡來，讓我們死於刀下？我們的妻兒必被擄去。我們還不如返回埃及。」他們彼此議論說：「我們選一位首領帶我們回埃及吧！」

第二天，以色列全體會眾都埋怨摩西和亞倫說：「你們害死了耶和華的子民。」

百姓便跟摩西吵鬧，要他給他們水喝。摩西便對他們說：「你們為什麼跟我吵鬧？為什麼試探耶和華？」

後來，以色列人又做耶和華視為惡的事，耶和華就把他們交在米甸人手中，受他們統治七年。

自從我認識你們以來，你們就不斷地背叛耶和華。

他們對摩西說：「難道埃及沒有墳地，要你帶我們出來死在曠野嗎？為什麼要帶我們離開埃及呢？我們對你說過，別管我們，就讓我們服侍埃及人吧。服侍埃及人總比死在曠野好啊！」
