And the Lord told him:“ Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

The Lord told him,“ Listen to everything the people are saying to you. You are not the one they have turned their backs on. I am the one they do not want as their king.

And the Lord said to Samuel,“ Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.

“ Do everything they say to you,” the Lord replied,“ for they are rejecting me, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer.

But the LORD told him,“ Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king.

And the Lord said to Samuel,“ Listen to the voice of the people regarding all that they say to you, because they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being King over them.

And the Lord said to Samuel,“ Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

And Jehovah said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee; for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not be king over them.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

The LORD said to Samuel,“ Do everything the people request of you. For it is not you that they have rejected, but it is me that they have rejected as their king.

Yahweh said to Samuel,“ Listen to the voice of the people in all that they tell you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me as the king over them.

But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your troubles and afflictions. You said to Him,‘ You must set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and clans.”

Moses continued,“ The Lord will give you meat to eat this evening and more than enough bread in the morning, for He has heard the complaints that you are raising against Him. Who are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.”

“ The one who welcomes you welcomes Me, and the one who welcomes Me welcomes Him who sent Me.

Whoever listens to you listens to Me. Whoever rejects you rejects Me. And whoever rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

Where now is your king, that he may save you in all your cities, and the rulers you demanded, saying,“ Give me a king and leaders”?I give you a king in My anger and take away a king in My wrath.

“ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We don’t want this man to rule over us!’

But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter them in my presence.’”

God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ Since these men have come to summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”

“ But My people did not listen to Me; Israel did not obey Me.So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own plans.

Remember the word I spoke to you:‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will also keep yours.But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, because they don’t know the One who sent Me.

So I will choose their punishment, and I will bring on them what they dread because I called and no one answered; I spoke and they didn’t hear; they did what was evil in My sight and chose what I didn’t delight in.

Isn’t the wheat harvest today? I will call on the Lord and He will send thunder and rain, so that you will know and see what a great evil you committed in the Lord’s sight by requesting a king for yourselves.”Samuel called on the Lord, and on that day the Lord sent thunder and rain. As a result, all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.They pleaded with Samuel,“ Pray to the Lord your God for your servants, so we won’t die! For we have added to all our sins the evil of requesting a king for ourselves.”

“ I assure you: A slave is not greater than his master, and a messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.

A disciple is not above his teacher, or a slave above his master.It is enough for a disciple to become like his teacher and a slave like his master. If they called the head of the house‘ Beelzebul,’ how much more the members of his household!
