So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said,“ He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.”

活人為甚麼哀怨？人為甚麼因受的罪罰而發怨言呢？

以色列人對永恆主說：『我們犯了罪了：你看怎麼好就怎麼待我們吧；只求你今日援救我們好啦。』

所以你們要自己謙卑，服在上帝之大能手下，讓他在適當時候叫你們升高。

說：『我赤身出母腹，也必赤身歸回；永恆主賞賜，永恆主取去；願永恆主的名受祝頌。』

我緘默不開口，因為是你作了的。

將義人同惡人一齊殺死，你這樣作麼！絕對不然！讓義人像惡人一樣麼！絕對不然！審判全地的主、難道不行公義麼？』

王說：『洗魯雅的兒子啊，你們與我就不同意了。他咒罵，若是因為永恆主吩咐他「要咒罵大衛」那麼誰敢說：「你為甚麼這樣行呢？」』大衛又對亞比篩和眾臣僕說：『看哪，我親腹出的兒子尚且尋索我的性命，何況現在這便雅憫人呢？由他咒罵吧；因為這是永恆主吩咐他的。或者永恆主見我遭難，為了我今天被這人咒罵，永恆主就以福報我也不一定。』
