“‘ Now I hear that it is sheep- shearing time. When your shepherds were with us, we did not mistreat them, and the whole time they were at Carmel nothing of theirs was missing.

“‘ I hear that you are clipping the wool off your sheep. When your shepherds were with us, we treated them well. The whole time they were at Carmel nothing that belonged to them was stolen.

I hear that you have shearers. Now your shepherds have been with us, and we did them no harm, and they missed nothing all the time they were in Carmel.

I am told that it is sheep shearing time. While your shepherds stayed among us near Carmel, we never harmed them, and nothing was ever stolen from them.

I hear that you are shearing. When your shepherds were with us, we did not harass them, and nothing of theirs was missing the whole time they were in Carmel.

Now then, I have heard that you have shearers. Now, your shepherds have been with us; we have not harmed them, nor has anything of theirs gone missing all the days they were in Carmel.

Now I hear that they are shearing sheep for you. When your shepherds were with us, we neither insulted them nor harmed them the whole time they were in Carmel.

Now I have heard that you have shearers. Your shepherds have now been with us, and we didn’t harm them. Nothing was missing from them all the time they were in Carmel.

此前大卫曾说：“我在旷野守护这人的一切，使他没有丢失过任何东西，实在是枉然的！他竟对我以恶报善。

其实那些人对我们非常好，我们在田野与他们往来的所有日子，没有受过他们欺负，也没有丢失过什么东西。我们在他们附近牧羊的所有日子，无论黑夜白天，他们都是我们四围的屏障。

最后，弟兄们，凡是真实的、庄重的、公义的、纯洁的、可羡慕的、高尚的，如果有什么美德，如果有什么可称赞的，这些事你们就当思想；

凡受压迫的人、负债的人、心里愁苦的人，都聚集到他那里，他就作了他们的首领，跟随他的约有四百人。

狼与小绵羊同住，豹与小山羊同卧，牛犊、少壮狮子和肥畜同群；小孩子要牵引它们。牛与熊一同吃食，它们的幼崽一同躺卧；狮子像牛一样吃干草。吃奶的婴儿在虺蛇的洞口玩耍，断奶的孩子按手在毒蛇的穴上。在我整个圣山上，这一切都不会带来伤害或毁灭；因为有关耶和华的知识必充满大地，如同众水盈满海洋。

好使你们成为无可指责、纯洁无伪的人，在这扭曲、败坏的世代中，做神毫无瑕疵的儿女；在这世代中，要像星星的光辉一样照耀在世上。

有些当兵的也问他，说：“那么我们呢？我们该做什么呢？”约翰说：“不要敲诈任何人，也不要勒索人，当以自己的粮饷为满足。”
