大衛謂從者曰、爾各繫刀、眾遂繫刀、大衛亦繫刀、從大衛而上者約四百人、留守什物者二百人、

David said to his men,“ Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

David said to his men,“ Each of you put on your swords!” So they did. David put his sword on too. About 400 men went up with David. Two hundred men stayed behind with the supplies.

And David said to his men,“ Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.

“ Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.

He said to his men,“ All of you, put on your swords!” So each man put on his sword, and David also put on his sword. About four hundred men followed David while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

Then David said to his men,“ Every man gird on his sword.” So every man girded on his sword, and David also girded on his sword. And about four hundred men went with David, and two hundred stayed with the supplies.

And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the baggage.

大衛與從者約六百人遂起、離基伊拉、往所可往之地、或告掃羅、大衛已離基伊拉而逃遁、故掃羅止而不出、

心無知則不善、或作作事心急毫無定見亦為不善足急者易蹶、

明達人必懲忿、赦宥人過、即為己榮、即為己榮或作必得讚譽

以色列人受其食物、並未請命於主、

後、大衛因割掃羅衣裾、中心不安、謂從者曰、我畏主、斷不敢舉手害我主王、即主所立受膏者、彼原為主所立受膏者也、

不遽怒者愈於勇士、治治或作服己心者愈於取城、

愛友乎、勿伸己冤、寧禁止爾怒、寧禁止爾怒或作人忿怒寧聽之經載主曰、伸冤在我、我必報應、又云、爾敵饑則飼之、渴則飲之、爾如是行、猶以熱炭置於其首、勿為惡所勝、乃以善勝惡、

忍怒者大有明哲、性躁者易顯愚拙、

勿急出與人爭、恐終受人辱、而爾無所能為、

所愛之兄弟、因此、爾各人當速於聽、緩於言、遲於怒、蓋人怒則不能成天主之義、

大衛既至二百人所、即昔疲憊不能隨大衛而留於比梭溪者、皆出迎大衛與從者、大衛就之、問其安、大衛之從者中、有數惡人與匪徒曰、此諸人不與我偕往、所得之物勿分予、祗以各人之妻及子女予之、使攜之去、大衛曰、兄弟乎、主既以此物賜我、且護我、以敵軍付於我手、不可如此行、此事誰願從爾、臨陣者與守什物者、所得之分相等、

大衛與從者六百人往追、至比梭溪、有二百人疲憊、不能過溪、故留於彼、惟大衛與四百人往前追敵、
