From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab,“ Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?”

From there David went to Mizpah in Moab. He spoke to the king of Moab. He said,“ Please let my father and mother come and stay with you. Let them stay until I learn what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king,“ Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

Then David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother come here with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

掃羅取得了以色列的王國以後，常常攻打四圍的一切仇敵，就是摩押人、亞捫人、以東人、瑣巴眾王和非利士人，他無論往哪裡去，都得到勝利（按照《馬索拉文本》，“得到勝利”作“懲罰”或“行邪惡”；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）。

神說：‘當孝敬父母’，又說：‘咒罵父母的必被處死’。你們卻說：‘人若對父母說：“我應該給你們的，已經作了獻給神的禮物”，他就可以不孝敬父母了。’你們因為你們的傳統，就廢棄了神的話。

所以，等我看出自己的事會怎樣了結之後，我希望立刻差他去；而且靠著主，我相信自己不久也會去。

在士師統治期間，國內發生了饑荒。有一個人帶著妻子和兩個兒子，從猶大的伯利恆前往摩押地去，寄居在那裡。這個人名叫以利米勒，妻子名叫拿俄米，兩個兒子叫瑪倫和基連，都是猶大伯利恆的以法他人。他們到了摩押地，就在那裡住下來了。後來拿俄米的丈夫以利米勒去世了，留下她和兩個兒子。他們娶了摩押女子作妻子，一個名叫俄耳巴，一個名叫路得。他們在那裡住了約有十年。

那時耶和華的靈臨到耶弗他身上，他就經過基列和瑪拿西，經過基列的米斯巴，又從基列的米斯巴去到亞捫人那裡。

我也娶了（“娶了”原文作“買了”）瑪倫的妻子摩押女子路得作妻子，使已死的人的名字留在他的產業上，免得他的名字在本族本鄉中除掉。今天你們都是見證人。”

王對撒督說：“把神的約櫃抬回城裡去吧！我若是在耶和華眼前蒙恩，他必使我回來再看到約櫃和他安居的地方。他若是說：‘我不喜悅你。’看哪！我就在這裡，他看怎樣好，就怎樣對待我吧！”

於是撒母耳把一切話都告訴了以利，一句也沒有隱瞞。以利說：“他是耶和華，他看怎麼好，就怎麼行吧。”

“要孝敬父母，使你在耶和華你的神賜給你的地上得享長壽。

鄰近的婦女要給他起名字，說：“拿俄米生了孩子了。”就給他起名叫俄備得；這俄備得是耶西的父親，耶西是大衛的父親。

約瑟照著法老的吩咐安置他的父親和兄弟們，把蘭塞地，就是埃及地最好的地方，給他們作產業。

寡婦若有兒孫，就應當讓兒孫先在自己家裡學習孝道，報答親恩，因為這在神面前是蒙悅納的。
