亞希米勒答道：「王的臣僕中有誰像大衛那樣忠心呢？他是王的女婿，又是王的護衛長，在王室中受尊重。

亞希米勒回答王說：『在王的眾臣僕中有誰像大衛那麼忠信可靠呢？他是王的女婿，又是王的衛隊長，在王的家中又是受尊重的。

亞希米勒回答王說：「在你所有的臣僕中，有誰像大衛那樣忠誠呢？他是王的女婿，又是你的侍衛長，在你家中受尊重。

亞希米勒對曰、大衛乃王之壻、進為謀臣、尊於王室、諸臣僕中、忠孰如之、

亞希米勒對曰、大闢乃王之壻、尊於爾家、遵命而行、爾臣僕中、孰忠如之。

亞希米勒對王曰、在王之眾臣僕中、誰忠如大衛、彼為王壻、常遵王命而行、並在王之家為尊者、

Ahimelek answered the king,“ Who of all your servants is as loyal as David, the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard and highly respected in your household?

Ahimelek answered the king,“ David is faithful to you. In fact, he’s more faithful to you than anyone else who serves you. He’s your own son- in- law. He’s the captain of your own personal guards. He’s highly respected by everyone in your palace.

Then Ahimelech answered the king,“ And who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, and captain over your bodyguard, and honored in your house?

“ But sir,” Ahimelech replied,“ is anyone among all your servants as faithful as David, your son in law? Why, he is the captain of your bodyguard and a highly honored member of your household!

Ahimelech replied to the king,“ Who among all your servants is as faithful as David? He is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and honored in your house.

Then Ahimelech answered the king and said,“ And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king’s own son in law, who is commander over your bodyguard, and is honored in your house?

So Ahimelech answered the king and said,“ And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, who goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house?

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who among all thy servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son- in- law, and is taken into thy council, and is honorable in thy house?

Ahimelech replied to the king:“ Who among all your servants is as faithful as David? He is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and honored in your house.

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who[ is so] faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?

Ahimelech replied to the king,“ Who among all your servants is faithful like David? He is the king’s son-in-law, the leader of your bodyguard, and honored in your house!

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said,“ Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son- in- law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?

約拿單回答他父親掃羅說：“為甚麼要把他處死呢？他作了甚麼事呢？”

約拿單向父親掃羅替大衛說好話，說：“王不要得罪你的僕人大衛，因為他沒有得罪你；並且他所作的，對你大有好處。他冒著生命的危險擊殺了那非利士人，耶和華為以色列人施行了大拯救，那時你看見了，也很歡喜。現在你為甚麼要犯罪，無緣無故殺死大衛，流無辜人的血呢？”

以色列人彼此說：“這個上來的人你們看見了嗎？他上來是要向以色列人罵陣的。如果有人能擊殺他，王必賞賜他大財富，把自己的女兒給他作妻子，並且使他的父家在以色列中免納稅，免服役。”

掃羅對他說：“你為甚麼與耶西的兒子合謀陷害我？把食物和刀給他，又為他求問神，使他起來陷害我，就像今天一樣呢？”

大衛對亞希米勒祭司說：“王吩咐我作一件事，對我說：‘我差派你，吩咐你去辦的這事，你不要讓任何人知道，我已經指示我的僕人在某地會面。’

耶和華必按著各人的公義和信實報答他；今天耶和華把你交在我手裡，我卻不願伸手傷害耶和華的受膏者。

我父啊，請看，你外袍的衣邊在我手中。我割下了你外袍的衣邊，卻沒有殺你。你從此可以知道，也可以看出我手中沒有邪惡，也沒有過犯。我雖然沒有得罪你，你卻要獵取我的性命。

因此掃羅使大衛離開自己，立他作千夫長，大衛就領導眾民出入。

因為他的一切典章常擺在我面前，他的律例，我未曾丟棄。我在他面前作完全的人，我也謹守自己，脫離我的罪孽；所以耶和華按著我的公義，照著我在他眼前的清潔回報我。

大衛和跟隨他的人就起身出去，在非利士人中擊殺了二百人，把他們的包皮帶回來，滿數交給王，要作王的女婿。於是掃羅把他的女兒米甲給大衛作妻子。

被拉到死地的人，你要拯救；將要被殺戮的人，你要挽救。如果你說：“這事我不知道。”那衡量人心的不明白嗎？那看顧你性命的不曉得嗎？他不按照各人的行為報應各人嗎？

你要為不能自辯的人開口說話，為所有貧苦的人伸冤。你要開口說話，秉公審判，為困苦和窮乏的人伸冤。”
