掃羅擲出長矛，心裡說：「我要把大衛刺穿，釘在牆上。」但大衛兩次都從他面前躲開了。

掃羅以槍擲之、意曰、我刺大衛、釘之於墻、大衛避焉、如此者再、

and he hurled it, saying to himself,“ I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David eluded him twice.

He threw it at David. As he did, he said to himself,“ I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David got away from him twice.

And Saul hurled the spear, for he thought,“ I will pin David to the wall.” But David evaded him twice.

and he suddenly hurled it at David, intending to pin him to the wall. But David escaped him twice.

and he threw it, thinking,“ I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David got away from him twice.

Then Saul hurled the spear, for he thought,“ I will pin David to the wall.” But David escaped from his presence, twice.

And Saul cast the spear, for he said,“ I will pin David to the wall!” But David escaped his presence twice.

and Saul cast the spear; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

and he threw it, thinking,“ I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David got away from him twice.

And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall[ with it]. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

掃羅把長矛朝著約拿單擲出去，要擊殺他。約拿單就知道，他父親是決意要殺大衛。

任何為攻擊你而造的武器，都必不奏效；任何在審判時起來用舌頭攻擊你的，都必被你定罪。以上是耶和華僕人們的繼業，他們的公義從我而來。」這是耶和華的宣告。

他們因此拿起石頭要砸他。耶穌卻被隱藏，離開了聖殿。

從耶和華那裡來的禍害之靈又臨到掃羅，那時他坐在宮殿裡，手裡拿著長矛，而大衛正在手彈豎琴。掃羅想用長矛把大衛刺穿，釘在牆上，但大衛從掃羅面前躲開了，長矛刺入牆壁。當夜大衛就逃跑脫身了。

但耶穌從他們中間穿過去，走開了。

怒火雖凶殘，怒氣如洪流，但在嫉妒面前，誰能站立得住呢？

惡人窺伺義人，尋機置他於死地；但耶和華必不將他離棄在惡人的手中；在審判的時候，也不定他有罪。

於是他們又試圖抓耶穌，他卻從他們的手中脫離出來。
