“ After that you will go to Gibeah of God, where there is a Philistine outpost. As you approach the town, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place with lyres, timbrels, pipes and harps being played before them, and they will be prophesying.

約拿單攻擊非利士人在迦巴的駐軍，非利士人聽見了這事。掃羅就在遍地吹角，說：「讓希伯來人都聽見。」

掃羅派一些使者去捉拿大衛。去的人見一隊先知受感說話，撒母耳站在當中領導他們，掃羅派去的使者也受上帝的靈感動說話。

他們來到那座山，看哪，有一隊先知遇見掃羅。上帝的靈大大感動他，他就在先知中受感說話。

大衛和事奉團隊的眾領袖分派亞薩、希幔，以及耶杜頓的子孫唱歌，以彈琴、鼓瑟、敲鈸伴奏。他們供職的人數如下：亞薩的兒子撒刻、約瑟、尼探雅、亞薩利拉，亞薩的兒子都在亞薩的指導下，遵王的指示唱歌。屬耶杜頓，耶杜頓的兒子基大利、西利、耶篩亞、示每、哈沙比雅、瑪他提雅共六人，都在他們父親耶杜頓的指導下唱歌，以彈琴伴奏，稱謝，頌讚耶和華。屬希幔，希幔的兒子是布基雅、瑪探雅、烏薛、細布業、耶利末、哈拿尼雅、哈拿尼、以利亞他、基大利提、羅幔提‧以謝、約施比加沙、瑪羅提、何提、瑪哈秀。這些都是希幔的兒子；希幔奉上帝之命作王的先見，吹角頌讚。上帝賜給希幔十四個兒子，三個女兒，他們都在父親的指導下，在耶和華的殿唱歌，以敲鈸、彈琴、鼓瑟伴奏，遵從王的指示，在上帝的殿裏事奉。亞薩、耶杜頓、希幔，

在耶利哥的先知的門徒從對面看見他，說：「感動以利亞的靈臨到以利沙身上了。」他們就來迎接他，俯伏於地，向他下拜，

在伯特利的先知的門徒出來，到以利沙那裏，對他說：「耶和華今日要接你的師父離開你，你知不知道？」他說：「我知道，你們不要作聲。」

先知的門徒對以利沙說：「看哪，我們在你面前居住的地方，那裏對我們太窄小了。

以利沙回到吉甲，那地正有饑荒。先知的門徒坐在他面前，他吩咐僕人說：「你把大鍋放在火上，給先知的門徒熬湯。」

我要側耳聽比喻，用琴解謎語。

希幔、耶杜頓同他們吹號、敲鈸，聲音響亮，並用其他樂器配合，歌頌上帝。耶杜頓的子孫作門口的守衛。

她們回答說：「有的，看哪，他就在你們前面。快！他今日正來到城裏，因為今日百姓要在丘壇獻祭。

王又派利未人在耶和華殿中敲鈸，鼓瑟，彈琴，正如大衛和王的先見迦得，以及拿單先知所吩咐的，就是耶和華藉先知所吩咐的。利未人拿大衛的樂器，祭司拿號，一同站立。希西家吩咐在壇上獻燔祭，開始獻燔祭的時候，他們就唱讚美耶和華的歌，吹號，並用以色列王大衛的樂器伴奏。

歌唱的希幔、亞薩和以探，敲銅鈸，聲音響亮；撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、烏尼、以利押、瑪西雅、比拿雅鼓瑟，調用女音；瑪他提雅、以利斐利戶、彌克尼雅、俄別‧以東、耶利、亞撒西雅用琴指揮，調用第八。

那時，米利暗女先知，亞倫的姊姊，手裏拿着鈴鼓；眾婦女也跟她出去打鼓跳舞。米利暗回應他們：「你們要歌頌耶和華，因他大大得勝，將馬和騎馬的投在海中。」

要用角聲讚美他，鼓瑟彈琴讚美他！擊鼓跳舞讚美他！用絲弦的樂器和簫的聲音讚美他！用大響的鈸讚美他！用高聲的鈸讚美他！凡有生命的都要讚美耶和華！哈利路亞！

為首的是亞薩，其次是撒迦利雅、耶利、示米拉末、耶歇、瑪他提雅、以利押、比拿雅、俄別‧以東、耶利；他們鼓瑟彈琴，亞薩敲鈸，聲音響亮；

你們要追求愛，也要切慕屬靈的恩賜，尤其是作先知講道。

大衛和以色列眾人在上帝面前隨着詩歌、琴、瑟、鼓、鈸、號，極力跳舞。

大衛和所有抬約櫃的利未人，以及聖詠團的領袖基拿尼雅和歌唱的人，都穿着細麻布外袍；大衛另外穿着細麻布以弗得。這樣，以色列眾人歡呼、吹角、吹號、敲鈸、鼓瑟、彈琴，聲音響亮，將耶和華的約櫃接上來。
