古昔聖女、上帝是望、亦以是自飾、服於其夫、

維昔淑女、上帝是賴、以此自飾、亦順其夫、

古昔仰賴天主之聖女、亦以此自飾、而服於其夫、

在昔懿德之婦、亦莫不以此自飾、仰望天主、敬事其夫。

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

勸老年婦人也要這樣：在行動舉止上要有聖役上的恭敬，不說讒言，也不做酒奴，要用好榜樣教導人，好修練年輕婦人愛丈夫、愛兒女、

那獨居無靠、真做寡婦的、是已把盼望釘住於上帝，而黑夜白日恆心不懈地祈求禱告的。

因為他們親眼看見你們敬畏中的貞潔品行。你們的妝飾呢、不應當是外面的辮頭髮、戴金飾、或穿衣裳的妝飾，乃應當是內心隱藏着的人、以柔和安靜的心靈為不朽壞的妝飾：這在上帝面前是很貴的。

還有幾個曾得治好、脫離邪靈和疾病的婦女：其中有稱為抹大拉的馬利亞、曾有七個鬼從她身上出來的、和希律的理事苦撒的妻子約亞拿、跟蘇撒拿和許多別的婦女、就是常用自己的資財供應耶穌和門徒的。

在約帕有一個女門徒，名叫大比大，譯成希利尼話叫作多加，就是羚羊的意思。這個婦人充滿着善行和施捨、就是她所常行的。

就寡居、直到八十四歲。並沒有離開過殿；黑夜白日、用禁食和祈求來事奉。

豔麗乃虛假；美容是浮華；惟獨敬畏永恆主的婦女、才配得稱讚。

哈拿禱告說：『我的心因永恆主而歡樂；我的角因永恆主而高舉；我的口張開而嘲笑仇敵；因為我以你的拯救而歡喜。

在好行為上有聲譽的。這就是說，她若養育過兒女，若接待過旅客，若洗過聖徒的腳，若濟助過遭患難的人，若在各樣善行上緊密追求過。

這些人同婦人們和耶穌的母親馬利亞、同耶穌的弟兄、都同心合意、恆心專務於禱告。

然而女人若持守着信心愛心和聖化、兼有克己，她就會由生兒育女之事而得救。

乃是要用善行來妝飾：這才是自許為敬拜上帝的女人所適合作的。

因着信、連撒拉雖過了生育歲數的時期，還能獲得能力而孕懷後裔，因為她以那發應許的為可信可靠；

你撇下了你的孤兒，我要保全他們、使他們存活；讓你的寡婦倚靠我吧。』

有才德的婦人誰能得着呢？她的價值遠勝過紅寶石。
