古昔聖女、上帝是望、亦以是自飾、服於其夫、

維昔淑女、上帝是賴、以此自飾、亦順其夫、

古昔仰賴天主之聖女、亦以此自飾、而服於其夫、

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

This is how the holy women of the past used to make themselves beautiful. They put their hope in God. And they followed the lead of their own husbands.

年長婦女、舉止亦宜溫恭有禮、毋道人短、或沉湎於酒、務須循循善誘、教訓少婦、敬夫慈子、

寡婦守節、而一無倚靠者、必能一心仰望天主、恆常祈禱、不舍晝夜。

彼既睹爾之貞靜敬恪、亦必欣然歸道矣。毋事外飾、辮髮、金玦、文繡皆非所宜。惟修養內心、以溫柔嫻靜之精神為飾、則可大可久、天主所珍也。

並有脫於鬼祟病苦之諸婦隨焉。其中瑪麗亦稱瑪達蘭者、曾憑七鬼而獲救、尚有希祿家臣苦撒之妻若翰納、及蘇三納等多婦；諸婦皆以私蓄供耶穌及其徒者也。

約帕有女徒名大比大、希臘語曰多加、平生孳孳為善、博施濟眾；

遂守寡至今、年已八十有四歲矣；平生不離聖殿、朝暮嚴齋祈禱。

其人必須有賢德之稱曾教養兒女善待賓客、且為聖徒洗足、平生濟人之難、周人之急、孳孳為善、惟日不足者、方得稱是。

諸徒同心一德、堅毅祈禱、尚有婦女數人、及耶穌聖母瑪莉雅與昆弟亦與之偕。

雖然、母氏劬勞、其蒙救恩也、孰云不宜；亦在恆懷信德愛德、堅守聖潔寧靜而已矣。

吾望服膺聖教之婦人、皆能以懿德琦行自飾也。

厥婦灑蕾、亦憑信德、以一不育之身、重以耄耋之年、竟能懷妊誕育；蓋彼固信天主之無虛諾也。
