在昔懿德之婦、亦莫不以此自飾、仰望天主、敬事其夫。

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

使老婦之舉止端肅、毋讒毀、毋役於酒、以善訓人、俾迪少婦愛夫愛子、

無依之真嫠、上帝是望、晝夜恆於籲懇祈禱、

蓋見爾貞潔之行及敬畏也、爾之飾、毋在外、如辮髮、佩金、衣美衣、乃在溫柔恬靜之性、隱之於心、不可壞者、此在上帝前為至寶、

且有數婦嘗患惡鬼、負諸病、而得愈者、即稱抹大拉之馬利亞、曾有七鬼由之而出、又希律家宰苦撒之妻約亞拿、與蘇撒拿、並多婦、皆以其所有供事之、○

約帕有女徒、大比大者、譯即多加、廣行善事、及施濟、

為嫠八十有四年、身不離殿、禁食祈禱、日夜事主、

美姿屬偽、豔色為虛、惟寅畏耶和華之婦、必得稱揚、

哈拿禱曰、我心因耶和華歡悅、我角因耶和華崢嶸、我口向敵而孔張、因爾拯救而喜樂、

有為善之稱、曾育子女、館遠人、濯聖徒足、濟苦難、務善工、

彼眾偕數婦、及耶穌母馬利亞、與其兄弟、一心恆務祈禱、○

然若恆於信愛貞潔、則將由產育而得救、

惟由善行、乃自許為虔敬者所宜、

撒拉有信、雖逾生育之年、尚能懷妊、以許之者誠信也、

當遺爾孤子、我必全其生、爾之嫠婦、亦當恃我、
