實際上，從前盼望神的那些聖潔婦女，也是這樣裝飾自己，服從自己丈夫的；

因为古时仰赖神的圣洁妇人正是以此为妆饰，顺服自己的丈夫，

從前寄望於上帝的聖別婦人也是這樣自己妝飾，順服她們自己的丈夫。

古昔聖女、上帝是望、亦以是自飾、服於其夫、

維昔淑女、上帝是賴、以此自飾、亦順其夫、

古昔仰賴天主之聖女、亦以此自飾、而服於其夫、

在昔懿德之婦、亦莫不以此自飾、仰望天主、敬事其夫。

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

同樣，年長的婦女在舉止行為上要合乎聖潔、不惡意控告、不成為酒的奴隸，要教導美好的事；這樣，她們可以訓導年輕的婦女愛丈夫、愛兒女、

那真正的寡婦，無依無靠，已經把盼望寄託於神，日夜不住地祈求禱告；

因為看見了你們懷有敬畏之心的貞潔品行。你們的美麗之處不應該是外在的，如編頭髮、戴金飾、穿華服，而應該是心裡面內在的人，帶著不朽壞的品性，出於謙和、安靜的靈；這在神面前是極其貴重的。

還有一些從邪靈和疾病中被解脫出來、得了痊癒的婦女，其中有那稱為茉大拉的瑪麗亞，從她身上曾經有七個鬼魔被趕出來，又有希律的管家苦撒的妻子約亞娜，以及蘇珊娜和許多別的婦女，她們都用自己所擁有的來服事耶穌和門徒們。

在約帕有一個女門徒，名叫塔比莎——「塔比莎」翻譯出來意思是「羚羊」。她盡做美善工作，常行施捨。

後來守寡了，現在已經八十四歲。她從不離開聖殿，禁食祈禱，日夜事奉神。

嫵媚是虛假的，美貌是虛幻的；唯有敬畏耶和華的女子必受稱讚。

那時哈娜禱告說：「我的心因耶和華而歡樂，我的角因耶和華而高舉；我的口向眾仇敵張大，因我以你的救恩歡喜。

並且必須有美好行為的名聲，就如養育孩子、接待客旅、洗聖徒的腳、幫助受患難的人、追隨一切美善的工作。

這些人與一些婦女以及耶穌的母親瑪麗亞、耶穌的兄弟們一起，都同心合意地恆切禱告。

不過女人如果在自制中持守信仰、愛心、聖潔，就會在生養兒女中得以保全。

反而要用美善的行為，與稱為敬神的女人相宜。

同樣因著信，不能生育的撒拉，自己雖然過了年齡，還是領受了懷孕生子的能力，原來她認為向她應許的那一位是信實的。

才德的妻子，誰能找得到呢？她的價值遠超過紅寶石。
