因為他們親眼看見你們敬畏中的貞潔品行。

因為看見了你們懷有敬畏之心的貞潔品行。

蓋見爾貞潔之行及敬畏也、

蓋其察婦貞靜敬恪、

因見爾之舉動、貞潔敬恪故也、

彼既睹爾之貞靜敬恪、亦必欣然歸道矣。

when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

Let them see how pure you are. Let them see that your lives are full of respect for God.

Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear,having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ.

Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ,

but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;

Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,
